Easy User Ban by Siropu

Easy User Ban by Siropu [Paid] 1.4.4

No permission to buy (€14.99)
@Siropu is it possible to add a note in the post that caused a user to be banned using your mod?

something like "User has been banned for x days due to this post"

this is requested all the time by mods on my forum, and even once the user has been unbanned... the msg remains up for future as a reference

pretty pls respond with a yes or a no

If you use the "Forum ID" or "Thread ID" option in admin options, notifications will be posted on ban and unban. The ban post will contain the ban reason, expire date and the mod who banned the user.

What about banning the IP address at the same time? If we permanently ban a member, which about 99% of the time it is permanent with us, it needs to also ban their IP address(es). Otherwise they just come back and join under a different username and continue to cause aggravation. There was a really good add-on for vB that did this... so it can be done. It even listed the username before and after the IP address in banned IP's. Any possibility of this? Thanks!

I can add IP ban option in the next release. The problem with IP banning is that if the user has dynamic IP, it can refresh the connection and get a new IP. Proxy is an option too.

Awesome - thanks!

Yes, multiple IP's can be an issue and if the user has not used all of them already so that they can all be banned initially, we would have to continue to ban the user and new IP when new registrations are made and as we discover them.

but if it goes on top of the post itself, when users browse that thread and see a user banned for specific post its good

Dynamic IPs are allocated randomly and my IP today can be your IP tomorrow and a user can have "unlimited" IPs. This can result in different users seeing the banned message on their first site visit. I know it happened on my community and at some point I was having IPs that were used before by some of my members. :)

If you use "Forum ID" option, each ban/unban action will have its own thread. If you use "Thread ID" option, all will get posted in the same thread one after another.

Hmmm - one of our vB forums with nearly 200K member have never had this issue arise, and we have banned a BUNCH of IP addresses. I think it would be a rare exception rather than the norm. Most of the time it is used for spammers and they all seem to come from similar areas, perhaps that is why is has not been an issue for us, although it could just be that we have been lucky. We have banned a range of IP addresses as well.

It's not the norm, it's just a possibility depending where are your users from and their internet service provider. Since I'm from a small country and my ISP at that time is the largest in the country, it happened many times.

Great addon! It's, in my opinion, by far one of the most feature-rich user ban tools available :)
I was wondering whether or not the image for the banned users' avatars could be changed from the default.
