CTA Featured Threads & Portal

CTA Featured Threads & Portal [Paid] 2.17.0

No permission to buy (£40.00)
Question..... Since I've got the Featured Threads page set as my site's index (home) page, the 'Featured Threads' link in the sub-nav bar is redundant. Is there somewhere to de-activate that link?

Disable the template modification.

Or edit the cta_featuredthreads_navigation_link template and comment out/delete the code.

It is impossible for the link to still be on the nav bar if you have unchecked the template modification.

I have just tested it and it is removed as expected.

Automatic featuring based on all of the criteria is now working.

Threw in a few more related to bb code and character count, to differentiate from manually featured threads.

Going to get some of the usual suspects to do some alpha/beta testing.

Kinda OT but as a future suggestion: it would be nice to be able to pull Featured Resources into the Featured Threads display locations. Maybe combine Featured Threads with Featured Pages, Featured Resources, etc.

Just a wish list :)

eta: The Featured Threads page is also a big hit. Looking sharp!!

That would be an entirely new add-on.

Threads and resources are different content types, use different tables, templates, etc.

One thing confuses me.

Having set featured thread page to be the home page, and add some text there into the template very thoughtfully provided (cta_featuredthreads_featured_custom_top) it is working very well as a portal.

However the link in the Forums sub navigation (featured threads) links to this home page, where there are no featured threads yet.

So this is a bit confusing for users. Even if I have some featured threads there they will be at the bottom of the page.

The exact same problem is on cliptheapex.com. If you click on Forums>featured threads, you get taken to the home page where there is a very nice home page, but no featured threads.

I don't really understand what it is you are saying.

There are currently threads featured on my site.
I can see them logged in and as a guest.

The link is there regardless of whether there are featured threads or not.
If there are no featured threads an appropriate message is displayed.
It works the same as the "New Posts" link in that respect.

Is anyone interested in Alpha/Beta testing the automatic featuring?

As it is largely untested, it would need to be on a test installation rather than a live site.

A prerequisite to being accepted for testing is that you would actually test the feature, essentially making sure everything works and trying to break it, rather than just wanting to get hold of the latest version.

id love to test this but its just not a feature i will use.. lol that and i dont want to have to manually delete over 21,000 featured threads. :D err scratch that FT isnt installed on that forum anyways............
