Collaborative Threads - Enables ad-hoc created groups to share OP-rights to a thread

Formally a private XF1 add-on for nearly 3 years, this has now been publicly released with the XF2 version.

Enables ad-hoc created groups to share OP-rights to a thread.
  • Admin defined list of what permisions can be shared from the thread starter (some permissions require "masking" where the collaborator has them taken away if they are not in the right group)
  • End-user create groups with different permission sets.
  • Edit marked posts.
  • Trigger author alerts...

Is it possible to allow an entire usergroup to collaborate on one thread, or does each user have to be specified?

Each user must be specified per each thread.

If you are willing to fund feature development it would be doable to include usergroups into a particular ad-hoc collaboration group.

Xon updated Collaborative Threads with a new update entry:

2.0.2 - Minor feature update

  • Add 'Always Collaborate' permission, respects the "Participate in collaborative threads" permission
    • If a user is added as a collaborative user, they pickup whatever group they are given. Otherwise defaults to the built-in "All" group.
    • In a forum without "View Others" , the 'Always Collaborate' does not result in all thread's being listed. Non-visible threads are still directly accessible, they just don't appear in the list.
  • Implement "Allow post collaborators...
