I think that could be the problem. If you are using the chat option "Enable new message window blink alert", try disabling it and see if it helps.

@Siropu why is it that the chat messages vanishes randomly. And then only shows like 1 or 2 lines of chat, and when you refresh, you get to see everything again.

It could have a limit per post.
Ex. after x characters, break into two posts in the thread.

@Siropu, I don't know if you've noticed, but while that hotfix does resolve some duplicating issue, it appears to be a very noticeable cleanup instead of just preventing duplicate IDs from being added in the first place. Sometimes the entire chatbox duplicates itself a hundred times over and the page needs to be refreshed; that's also new since the JS change.

Default channel name? Are you referring the the "General Chat" room? There is a phrase for that: siropu_chat_room_general_name Default rooms for users that don't have a chat session could be a new feature. We'll see.

I could be hallucinating but I swear there used to be an option to put in "0,4,9" to get General Chat and custom rooms with the PK 4 and 9.

Most people don't do this unless incentivized, though. Not necessarily a functionality problem, but unless someone is actively encouraged to join another room, they usually won't. If there was a way to make all "official" tabs joined by default, that'd be grand. In fact, that wouldn't be amiss as a room option that only mods can set: "Official Room".

I'll give you a real use case. My forum's chatroom is for users that've been around atleast for a few days, but I'd really like to make a public room that guests can view, and keep that private room for users of the site in case they don't want to be publicly read. If I made that change right now, many people would be confused about having to join a second room to get what they're already used to. If it were changed so that "Public Room" and "Private Room" were both defaults, and people automatically joined the Private Room when eligible, it would allow me to pull this off.

I could add an option to join a predefined list of rooms but that will only affect users with no chat session. This doesn't include guests as they can't have a chat session.
