I feel like this would massively impact forum usage. If you can just chat why reply to a thread.
Also must be very heavy on resources for busy sites.

It depends on the use case. For instance, the chat room on my site significantly enhances interactions during live music events. The app offers various configuration options, allowing you to control when and how the chat rooms are used. Based on my experience, I haven't encountered any performance issues.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something but when a member chooses to hide bot messages they still see them.

There are many bot message types. Which one they can see?

When I try to upgrade Chat for XF1 to XF2.3 it does not upgrade the addon. The chat does not have previous chats and messenger content in it.
Please advise.

Go to ACP > Chat > Commands > ai and save the settings once you make sure that everything is set correctly.

okay, I got rid of the error but when I type in "/ai <my question>?", nothing happens. It just says, (AI Prompt) followed by my question.

I've turned off the option "Enable new threads notifications" but links to new threads are still being posted in the chat.

Not possible. If that option is disabled, new posted threads won't be posted in the chat. You probably have "Enable new posts notifications" enabled and get reply notifications?

No, that's not enabled. However, I had a closer look at the particular threads that were posted. These were threads that had come through the Approval Queue.

Make sure you have the API key set in ACP > Chat > Commands > ai and that you have some credit in your Open AI account.

Okay... I have some credit now and I've made progress. I've asked a question but I'm only getting a partical answer.



I set this "Maximum message length" to "0".

You have to set "Max tokens" to a higher value.
