Break Even Point to Shift from Shared to VPS to Dedicated

Tried searching the forum for getting information on the same.

What is considered as the break even point for your Xenforo community to shift from shared host to VPS to Dedicated server set up.

What is the criteria like, max thread and post count, max number of visitors online, database size and any other factors that contribute to the kick from your current set up.

Some of the points given by other members:
#When the site gets slower, as complained by users
#Host not able to fulfill certain requirements of the forum, like geoip provision
#Power of having full control
#.....

My break point would be when the users complains the site is getting slower.
Or you just want to get away from the limitations of shared hosting (no GeoIP on HostGator was the breaking point for me). Not to mention the fact I like to control my OS, thank you very much.

I don't know. For some reason I don't like starting websites on ordinary shared hosting. It feels like I'm being limited in terms of my control, and being the control freak that I am, I start with a VPS immediately, even if the VPS is small. I don't know, it makes me feel that I have the power. Lol.

I am serious though. :P
