Barefooting

Hope you managed to lose your shoes at your conference if it was today.

I did! :D It was fun and kind of freeing in a way... though I did feel a little self-conscious and I'm not sure some of the older people present approved...

A friend who was also there saw me and looked at my bare feet and after a minute said "oh... you quite often go barefoot don't you?" LOL I was thinking "um, well you should see Kier and then reassess that statement"

Although such adventures can't help but leave their mark!

yeah the underneath of my feet look rather grubby - I'd post a pic but my feet are highly unattractive.... and you wouldn't believe how tricky it is to photograph the underside of your own feet!

Good for you for giving it a go (y) The self-consciousness fades over time and with repetition, the main thing is you liked the feeling.

What do you suppose made them say that?

I know all too well the difficulties! Thankfully my pro photographic gear makes life a little easier for the odd self-portrait :)

well she's seen me once or twice without shoes at home lol... I thought it was funny she said that beacause 1. it's surely not that odd to not wear anything on your feet at home and 2. I'm not quite sure how that constitutes "quite often going barefoot"... but hey, it helped me not feel so self-conscious so... ;)

I want to do it again though - it was kind of fun!

I wondered how on earth you managed to take pictures lol.

Sure is! Before long you'll start to have long inner debates before you go out anywhere as to the merits of wearing / taking shoes today :)

Mini tripod and a remote shutter release, not rocket science, but very difficult to replicate if you don't have them!

Without them, the best you can do is the reflection-in-the-bedroom-mirror shot, or the foot-on-your-knee shot...

Neither of which are particularly inspiring!

Is that menacing look for me ?

I must say, you don't sound that tall on your videos.

:D
I think the photo was meant to capture the idea of looking down at you... which could either mean the literal sense (he's taller) or the less literal sense of he considers himself higher class than you! Paul... maybe you should strike!

I suppose some places would deny you access if you're barefoot...

thanks for the mirror tip! I suppose I should have thought of that but it's been a long day and my brain's gone to sleep, so you'll have to let me off for not thinking of the obvious ;)

its minus -35c here right now so bare-footing is out of the question till summer.. but in our hot summer months I take full advantage of going barefoot after being bundled up for so long in the cold winter months

Okay... here are a couple of pics of my enlightened feet after a day of being free of shoes at the conference:

Dirty feet - though not as dirty as Kier's haha!

(Please excuse my horrible feet)

Normally I'd encourage people to follow that daily challenge of yours outside as well as just around the home, but in your case I think staying inside is most certainly prudent

haa yes indeed! Todays Challenge was ask a friend to go for a 30 minute walk, so I suppose Ill call a friend to walk around my house with me for 30 minutes barefoot and they can help me clean while we are at it

now thats a good idea... but will these dusters pick up the mess my 4 year old twin boys have also left everywhere
What you do is you make 2 sets of sleepers for your boys. One set made out of swiffer dusters and one set out of the soft side of velcro. The pokey side of velcro you install on your walls at about chair rail height. Then you can pop them up on the walls when they've made enough mess, and you can put them back down in their duster suits when you need a cleanup. That's what we did, anyway. LOL

Now when you described your feet as deformed, I had in mind something from The Elephant Man. Thankfully, yours are just a bit shoe-mangled, and I've seen far far worse :)

haha! Thanks for making me feel better - maybe it's just because I'm a girl but I'm very insecure about them :) Though actually my problems aren't caused by poorly fitting shoes, though that is most commonly how people get feet like mine. I was born like this and it's been a problem for as far back as I can remember... it's due to my hip and knee problems rather than shoes. ;)

OK, with all this talk of going barefooted, I decided to give it a try today.

It was certainly not good when I stepped on a rock, but the beach around the lake I live at and the water certainly made up for the rocks.. I think my feet need to toughen up a bit before I could do it for long periods of time..
