Barefooting

See here is the real problem with things here...there is so many groups dedicated to the safety of that specific group that it is not easily managed to establish a single standard that can be universal so it can be itemized and taxed and insured properly.

Amoungst the isssues...
  • People sue over everything...even if they have to fabricate evidence. These people are scum. They are the reason we have this problem. Legit attemps at recourse say because you didn't break up 2 inches of ice on the sidewalk in front of your house and someone breaks a bone...yeah your at fault...but the lack of shame and or the absence of pride amoung countless people in this great place ruin it for a whole lot of people. @Short_answer == Selfishness: Greed;
  • The establishments must comply with standards set by many regulatory groups in order to attain proper insurance so if sued insurance can handle a payout if necessary under certain terms derived from the actual policy. @Short_answer == Monetary needs;
  • AIDS HPV and countless other diseases are transferred with ease through blood and other means and a sore or open wound could easily start a small epidemic at a time when there is nice weather and more people likely to be barefooted especially children. Heath standards groups set a precedent by which an enforcement procedure through all the chains involved that boils down to the owner of said establishment being responsible for the fees ( and in the case of giving some ones child aids you will probably lose everything you have. ) and no sanely run insurance underwriter would consider giving a policy to lets say a gas station that covered something of this nature due to non enforcement of "safe" footwear policies established by some safety group. The way these policies were set into motion in the first place is beyond me but that is not the point. There is also some people scorn and don't care if they spread a disease they have and will not take the proper precautions that a responsible person would. @Short_answer == Health: General lack of empathy;
  • The store owner needs to follow the path of least resistance to assure solid returns on all of his or her investments. Complying with policies and paying the smallest amount of overhead monthly is what it's all about and for a business owner there is often little to gain by going against the grain for the good people when the bad ones will pervert the system and pillage when possible. @Short_answer == free will cost you;
  • For every decent person who would take responsibility for their own choice of footwear and subsequent accidental incidents, there is probably 3 or 4 that would take advantage of the situation. @Short_answer == My experience;

In the end it boils down to....doing things "for the people" isn't really "free" nowadays after all.

That's the personal resolve to be responsible for your actions and the empathy for other people thing I was talking about or rather the general lack of it ruining it for the good people. If someone does something in a restaurant with a gun they will most likely go to jail. It's debateable what would happen if someones foot got burned by some hot soup and sued because it would be a tedious lawsuit and by the books is granted it's due course. Some things are just backwards here and nearly impossible to fix...chain reaction system like a Ginsburg machine
How very true.

Remember the woman who sued McDonalds because her coffee was "too hot" and SHE spilled it on herself in the car? And she WON?
Yeah, things definitely can be, and often are, very backwards here.

I wish I could tag "Suing for coffee is too hot" and dislike that as who in their right mind doesn't want hot coffee or not know that it should be brewed at a hot temperature and served that way unless of course it is iced coffee.

ps. and I do remember that and remember thinking ARE YOU ******* SERIOUS

haha At that time, those were my exact words.

I don't think anybody needs to lecture me on the culture of litigation in the United States ;)

None taken, we know your friendly experience with the legal system here and more than anything we're just talking about it in general, it just sucks how close to home this hits for you personally being that you call home a place thousands of miles (kilometers) away and should not even have to deal with it here. Every place someone calls home has junk in their backyard, I personally don't see why they insist on you seeing our landfill here when I'm sure there's refuse over where you are too that you wish you could do without.

How did this drift onto litigious nastiness anyway? Everyone sit back, relax, kick your shoes off and...

Just to note this thread ,

Barefoot is usually followed with & Pregnant.

Being Barefoot & Pregnant is a common status used to refer to "homemakers" with no jobs who never leave the house

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barefoot_and_pregnant

"Barefoot and pregnant" is a phrase most commonly associated with the controversial idea that women should not work outside the home and should have many children during their reproductive years. It has several other meanings as well. It is a figure of speech.

Ill be honest i guess i really didnt realize how much im brainwashed by the culture i live in ,

when i seen Shelleys username as Barefoot Designer , i immediately assumed she was a stay at home mom who makes graphics to past time much like my wife.

Instead of the fact that she just don't like wearing shoes, and goes to places with no shoes on ....

i invision ruff cave man style feet that can walk across rocks :D
