Barefooting

That's interesting because I always only ever use the balls of my feet when climbing stairs or steps, whether wearing shoes or not.
Even when I run up them I still only put about 1/3rd of my foot on the step.

That's the only time I don't strike the ground heel first.

We ordered 24 packets (x64) from Boots last week, along with 500 nappies :D

We purchase ours from Wilkinson 97p per pk and I (need to think about this one) I go through an average of 7-8 pks per week. Some is down to cleaning the bare footing affects of those grubbiness as I love to walk out in the garden after it's raining and the sun has heated up the grass but not enough that the mud just oozes up through your toes. So getting into those hard to reach places takes up 1 wipe per toe as I slide the baby wipe in between them yanking back and forth. :p

If I were going on a desert Island and had the choice of bring one thing baby wipes would be on there from my top 3 choices.

Have you considered hosing yourself off first before heading to the babywipes? It would save some of them. LOL Liz

Kier is making us take off our shoes one foot at a time. I could almost swear he'll be able to do anything one day, even have us give him money. ;) :p

For people who play sports, do you also do it barefoot? I know walking is much different that running and things that might not hurt you walking might do so when you're running. I'm curious if you put some kind of protection on or something.

I consider lots of things hosing my feet down would not be an option. Whenever I barefoot I wear the clothing I would if I was wearing footwear so without the risk of getting my clothing wet and riddled with mud, soil the odd bug i accidentally tread upon I prefer spending the time to thoroughly clean my feet.

At the risk of soiling my clothes by lifting my dirty feet to clean them with babywipes, I'd hose them off some first. But that's me. However since it's a moot point in my case as I can't go barefooting, not medically allowed, I'll take your word for what's best. LOL. :) Liz

I play alot of badminton, and I do long distance running. Badminton is certainly something (when i return to it) I'll do barefooting. If I am correct, I personally feel this will lift my game to another level being easily able to grip the floor and moving back and forth, side to side much more quickly had I resort to trainers.

I reckon, once i barefoot playing badminton I don't think I'll ever go back to wearing footwear again.

Badminton barefoot is quite a different game from badminton in shoes. You have to be very precise with your footwork, staying up on your toes almost all the time as you obviously can't slide your feet or land heavily on your heels (which is good news for your knees) but the pay-off is better jumping, quicker feet and a lighter, more deft touch.

I play both barefoot and with shoes, depending on the opponent and the nature of the game.

I should point out that the occasions when bare feet get that dirty that they are in danger of soiling your clothes and need hosing off are very few and far between.

As I said, I had to take her word for what was best...it has been over 20 + years since I've done any serious barefooting. Liz

Another plus (at least I think so) for going barefoot is that I find the heels of my feet tend to stay soft and supple. I've had people ask me if my feet are tough and hard because of walking barefoot, yet it's completely the opposite.

I can attest to that :)

I'm totally a barefoot soul when the opportunity is there, I never wear shoes at home or out in the village, when my daughters and I trek in Wales or Devon I wear rugged trekking boots, I have to admit that much.

If the weather and terrain permits, Devon can be a lovely place to walk barefoot. You and your daughters should give it a try sometime, you might surprise yourselves with how capable the human foot can be, when freed from the confines of a stiff and unyielding hiking boot.
