As designed Avatar on forum home overlapping container div

The avatar on the start page overlaps the container div for me.
Here's a screenshot.
I'm using Firefox 3.6 on Ubuntu Lucid.

I thought that this is probably on purpose (something that obvious probably wouldn't slip unnoticed). I actually like it, personally.

As the text aligns with the top of the avatar, I'll say it is by design.

I don't think that's overlapping, it looks like it's suppose to do that. Look at the search bar and how it overlapps the blue bar.

It does look good, even if it was an accident I am glad it stayed

I don't see why not, it looks stylish, or at least matches the style of this forum.

As Mike says, probably a forgotten float. A <div style="clear:left (or both);"></div> right before the </div> of that container would keep the avatar within the box.
