ArrowChat - Facebook Style Chat

ArrowChat - Facebook Style Chat v4.1.3

No permission to download
And can users only start to chat with the floating bar? Can this be deleted? How does a chat between two users start. Can this from the member card? Or is evrything from the floating bar?

Not very clear for me. Is there not a more detailed page?
It's fairly clear, click on the underlined text for explanation on what starter, lite, premium etc are.

It's from the floating bar, that's the point of it, it's available right throughout your site. You can also embed chat rooms and private chat into a XenForo page.

Chats between users work in the same way as they do on Facebook.

@ArrowSuites: this page lists 'full integration' and then talks about friends integration. But XenForo has no friends function. How does that work?
Some time ago you mentioned that you were going to implement integration with xenforo conversations. How is that going?
You have announced that usergroup permissions would be implemented last year. When can we expect this basic XenForo integration function?

Without usergroup permissions my sites would be a free for all and overrun by spammers and trolls.

Meh I'm having issues with this..
Submitted a bug track report two weeks ago, without even receiving a reply.

That aside, I had a chat 'party' to get members to know each other, (adult based lifestyle site) and it borked and borked hard.
Members couldn't type, some members found it slow and laggy, other members complained that they joined the chatrooms, could see messages but couldn't reply at all...

It became embarrassing and we had to close the chats, I repaired it, and haven't tested it since.
There were ONLY about 30+ members involved, and only two days prior to this, we did the same thing, more people and no issues..

I'm using a DO VPS, 60GB SSD, 4GB RAM, 2x Xeon. Gbps network.
Gutted to be fair and I am now unsure how to progress, my other admins are pushing me to seek an alternative.
Simply put, we can't have this...... We're in too much of a high profile community to have issues like this and I will be honest, I don't know what to do from here.

I look forward to hopefully hearing from you.

Oh and just to note, as you've not replied on your own forums, are you aware of a huge bug in IE - typical- of bars missing and chat being unavailable?
IS this fully compatible with ALL mobiles?

As long as there are no real usergroup permissions performance and security will always remain a problem.
If you host a chat party and a lot of people attend and even people that should have no permission, then it will quickly be too much for a server. That was my experience with ArrowChat a few years ago and I had the same problem with cometchat in the last 3 years.

Indeed there will, we hosted not a very huge chat 'party' though..
And yes it seems server loads are issues, but my word did it come to a standstill.
You run a HUGE board so I'm not surprised that you experience server load etc..
Still, in an ideal world @Alfa1 ... (it will happen, I know it lol) :)

@Martok - Heya, perhaps you can help in this thread in case I a doing something wrong.

As per the two attached images, I have the default settings but the chat constantly shows those users as idle even when the forum was moved to new hardware, restarted and even via testing my own account and logging out fully and clearly my cache it showed the user as idle.

I am able to see everyone as the Administrator but with my own test account logged out fully and it still showing that it must be an issue somewhere. How does one stop users showing there once they have left the forum?

Thanks!

My site certainly loads faster on this new version (clean install).

In the ArrowChat options it lists your XenForo usergroups and you can choose to hide the bar or not and disable a few things like video, applications etc.

I've just posted the following on the Arrowchat site but thought I'd also post it here too.

It's good to see that Arrowchat has added group permissions. Unfortunately the way that these have been set up is contrary to how group permissions work in XenForo. I'd therefore have to say that I wouldn't recommend anyone using XenForo upgrading to this new version until this issue is fixed.

XenForo permissions are designed to be cumulative. This means that everybody should have the Registered Group as their primary user group and all other user groups are added as secondary groups. Therefore users can be in multiple groups at the same time. Details of how XenForo permissions are designed to work are here:

https://xenforo.com/community/resources/implementing-permissions-across-multiple-user-groups.358/

On my site, I don't allow Guests or ordinary members (those who are just in the Registered user group) to use Arrowchat, I have it available only to full members. Full members, following the correct XenForo permission usage, are a secondary user group that members are added to. If I disable Arrowchat being used by the Registered group using the new permissions, means that none of my members can use Arrowchat.

The *Simple Solution* (I believe) would be for all Arrowchat permissions, instead of them being ticked to be disabled, are ticked to be enabled. This would mean that I could just tick the group I want to use Arrowchat and tick the individual permissions for video chat etc. For other forum software, they could tick all groups they want to use it and the individual permissions for video chat etc. However, the best solution for XenForo would be to be to also have a Never permission (so you would then have no permission to use Arrowchat, allow permission to use Arrowchat and Never use Arrowchat which overrides any allow permission set for another user group). This is how XenForo permissions work.

Two other points:

1. Registered group in XenForo can't see Arrowchat
I've tested with all of my groups with permissions enabled for Arrowchat and anyone who is in the Registered group only (ie not in any other groups) cannot see Arrowchat. As soon as I add a user to another group they can see Arrowchat. The Registered group permissions are enabled because if I disable them, no-one can see Arrowchat as mentioned above.

2. Guest permissions
It's confusing having guest permission settings in the Arrowchat general settings as well as the guest user group permissions. The general settings may be necessary for Arrowchat integrations on custom sites that don't have a supported integration, however I'd suggest some clear text in the user group permissions section about this, as you'll likely get admins thinking they have enabled group chat for guests in group permissions but don't realise why it's not working if it's disabled in general settings.

The only issue I have is that the Registered usergroup cannot see the chat rooms even if they are enabled, they can however see the chat bar/friends window.

I just registered a user only in the Registered group to test what you put but they cannot see the chat room even though it is not disabled.

Looks like I need to downgrade as I cannot fix this issue =\

@ArrowSuites could you please list the exact permissions that can be set for each usergroup?
Could you address the issue with cumulative XF permissions?

For which systems does ArrowChat offer usergroup permissions?

Even a roll back is proving problematic. Sigh
You really should set up a test site. I have one and always do any upgrades (Arrowchat, XenForo etc) on there first to check that they work or not. If there are problems then your live site isn't affected. In this case, I'm very glad that I have a test site as my users can continue to use the previous version of Arrowchat and haven't been affected by this issue.

This hasn't been used on our live site in a while.

I was talking about a test site I setup with a test group who was excited to see this return.
