Are people "watching" Xenforo Resources ?

Do you watch every resource that you use on your site ?

Hmmm you know the only feature I'd like added is "private notes"
Something viewable on the main page of the resource for your records? It's unnecessary so I don't expect to support this idea other than just posting this.

Notes to let you know what you saw in this add-on or what you were waiting for. Sometimes developers take months to release the next update and it's pretty easy to forget what you were waiting for before installing it. I personally keep a written record in a pocket book I have but it's just me.

Cool idea.
The Bookmarks Addon by Syndol has features similar to what you describe.

I watch each one I have installed on my site. For these, I opted for e-mail update.
I also watch some others I'm interested in, but without e-mail notification.

Heh, I was talking about Mike with this on Thursday or Friday, I don't watch any resources, I much prefer to manually check for updates.

Personally, I just don't "like" the idea of watching resources, call me old fassioned?

Is it automatic ?
Is there a delay ?

I just downloaded the [tabs] bbcode addon. It didn't turn from Watch this resource to Unwatch this resource ? Even after a refresh.

If people have to manually click to Watch an addon .... maybe a button like this could help them.

It definitely is automatic.

I've just tried it on several add-ons. The text doesn't change until you referesh the page, but it is definitely automatic.

Top of my head I think its linked to the:

Automatically watch threads that you create or when you reply...
and receive email notifications of replies

Option rather than the other one.
That's correct.

So the default behaviour is very much to automatically watch resources, but it can be turned off.

I assume it has been suggested or planned to have an RM dedicated option in the future?

Who knew ?
Obviously lots of people have that turned off.

Great idea.

An Email option for those that don't come often could help when a timely security issue comes up.

Slightly offtopic maybe but I find it nuts to stop notifying someone when they don't visit. After all it's preciseloy those users who don't visit who I want to tickle back again.
I understand people are busy busy. Also many don't have good email systems or don't use features they do have to tag email (notifications) to go back to. But even though I do tag stuff if I'm too busy to check a notify straight away I do overlook stuff.

Users not reacting need more attention not less surely. Also I'm often happy to track a discussion via notify email for a while in between board visits.
Would love to know if this can be toggled off so notifies continue regardless of response?

I wish it were automatic if one has commented or downloaded. I forget to watch and have a tough time keeping up with updates to add-ons.

It is automatic, but it requires you to have the option enabled for you to automatically Watch threads.

As mentioned, the options should be separate. But the default is that all threads are watched anyway so most people should be getting resources watched automatically unless they've made a consious decision to turn auto thread watching off.

I guess this text is missing ...

[ ] Automatically watch threads that you create or when you reply (or when you download a resource) ...

Sometimes a member will post to congratulate the author or show their support by saying thanks. They don't need to be forced to watch a resource simply because they replied. If they do, can't they do that in preferences/options and checking the checkbox. Simple.

It's a concious decision even if it were checked that the majority of people unchecked the box if it's set as default to be checked. Why? Have you experienced the amount of alerts you get when you reply to a post? It makes (for me) the alert system useless) and I'm prone to just get rid of the alerts because they're popping up every 2 seconds.

This is a Try to solve one problem and failing to do so >> and enforcing a new problem. No win?
