Any sort of roadmap for Xenforo 2.3 ?

It's nice to see that non-disruptive features are added to second point releases i.e. 2.2.12
I hope that we will continue to see non-disruptive features released this way. If a feature will not break any addon if released, then its very welcome in a minor release.
I don't think this is the first time, to be honest. Can't think of other examples. In principle, you can add features in maintenance releases, but it is not the norm and certainly should be features that are non-disruptive to most users.

I certainly wouldn't call Advanced Cookie Consent non-disruptive :)

It does break (at least) three of our Add-ons and it will most likely take quite a few days to adapt them, nevertheless I am happy about that.

Every time I see a new version mentioned by the bug bot due to incoming fixes, it makes my heart die a bit more. And subsequently, my bank balance get a little larger (by a minimal amount).

I don't want to renew unless a) there's a show-stopping bug or major security flaw, or b) something decent to invest in.

Same here, there's really no incentive to update the annual subscription. IMO there are a lot of good and worthy suggestions for new features that could be added to improve and update things but it feels like it's just dying on the vine at this point.

I know great things take time - but this feels like an age.

I'm genuinely interested in knowing what the renew rate is compared to years before. It must hit the bottom line.

I mean. There are literally hundreds of good suggestions gathering dust in the suggestions forum.. Some for a literal decade. If we had features (just a few now and then) added with larger frequency than every two years, people would be more inclined to not let their subscription expire.

I'd even pay more money if they added team + shipped features quicker.

It might even be helpful to vet and add existing marketplace addons (if sold by the author) if they're good enough for core or can be developed to meet XF standards. Why don't we have a Calendar? Why are there so many decent addons that should be core? That's a whole different discussion, but the reason we're at this juncture is because of the obvious - it's been soo long.

When 2.3 does arrive - will all be forgotten or is it a case of 'Well, we've got this - How long until the next major feature addition release? 10 years? Sounds crazy, but there isn't really an expected timeline anymore. Radio silence or lack of a community rep definitely makes it worse.

I don't know anymore. As much as I love Xenforo, I feel like we are being led on now. It's starting to remind me of a piece of software that I used to use. They kept promising an update was coming out, just to keep people signing up and milking it. This went on for two years and the company eventually announced that they sold out to another software vendor. I know they have said that they have not but I am starting to wonder if I believe them anymore. After all they promised that 2.3 would be released in 2022.

I think @Chris D should at least make an official comment on the whole situation to put everyone's minds at ease. I think it's the least Xenforo could do. I think the community at least deserves that.

As much as I love XenForo, it is rather odd an official statement has not been made now considering the last claims and promises. I would expect some sort of statement now that we’re in 2023

I'm willing to bet if they're going to say anything, it will be this week now that New Year is out of the way.

As much as I love the software and having 3 licenses, I’m disappointed, and finding slightly unprofessional with promises made last year.

Wasn't a promise, after a lot of pressure Chris made a statement to take with a grain of salt. That's it. If this kind of narrative continues the team will be a lot more strict with their communication to us customers.

Seeing the feedbacks, as expected, they should keep radio silence as much as i don't like this kind of approach (you can communicate if you have clear deadlines in place, if you don't you can't communicate anything or your will create expectations.).

In the end Xenforo 2.2 during 2022 received updates:
2.2.9/2.2.10/2.2.11/2.2.12

I still renew my license every year because id like to have my site running on the most secure ad updated version of the CMS i'm working with.

I will consider any other platform? Realistically no. Mainly for two reasons.

First. Because i'm too deep in Xenforo (with custom addons, theme, bought addons) and even UX (people don't like change if isn't justified).

Second. Competitors have some nice features (their user ranking system is nice, even with progression graphs so you can calculate better how is difficult to reach a user rank for example) etc etc etc. but nothing you can do with a Google Docs file and a little fidgeting with data (we replicated the same graphs and stats). For more complicated features we developed everything internally or outsourced (i had bad experiences in the past, but now very good ones with @Ozzy47 and @Painbaker). Even with Themehouse "leaving" we "gained" from their releasing their addons on Github (quite useful for our devs looking at their approach on something).

Basically, Xenforo doesn't lack something you need to be successful, only polishing and rounding out some features (and maybe something i can't or anyone can't think of...no one suggested "search forums" but here they are).

The Cookie Banner was nice to see before the end of the year and i hope @Kirby soon releases an addon to make it GDPR compliant 100% so we can ditch third party solutions.

Everyone should stop whining about the lack of "major versions" (is a toxic behavior, as a forum admin you should know it, because if users keep whining about a missed deadline is like putting salt on a wound).

You can stop the renewal of your licenses (and for "you" i mean, everyone involved). Or, you can change platform altogether, if your community and wallet allows it (so you can manifest clearly your disappointment).

Don't take me as a whiteknight of Xenforo Developers, they don't need it and i'm not, i voiced my critics in the past and i got an answer, i'm a satisfied customer, for now.
