Alert - an influx of private message spammers

We've been hit over the last couple of weeks by over 300 registrations who send a single private message to a member inviting them to visit a bitly.com link to fill a survey or enter a promotion. I haven't clicked it, so I don't know where it goes.

There are some attributes of the registrations in common which I don't want to divulge here, but am happy to do so by PM.

We've blocked Novice Members (new members) from starting Private Conversations.
We've blocked the fairly unique email domains they are using to register.
And we've put bitly.com in the spam phrases. (We don't allow the use of URL shorteners anyway).

Has anyone else experienced this problem?
