Change appearance of Private Messages

That’s actually a great idea
But the devil is in the details.

It could be a way for style developers to distinguish their styles over others.

Ideas:

Essentially replicate the look of iMessage.

  • your posts are right justified.
  • all others are left justified.
  • use quote “balloons” like iMessage and have different colors for them.
  • simplify the design like iMessage.

Allow likes / reactions to function as above.
Bonus marks for a send sound when clicking (Send)

Maybe even replicate this interface ?

Instead of the up arrow use [send] button as new users (older people) don’t click it (my experience).

It would be nice if there was a way to change its appearance.
There is - via CSS, template edits, etc.
The same as the rest of the site.

Here's a simple example.

@Brogan such important things must not be done by a third party
Why, some of the best bits of my sites are developed by third parties. Brogan's advice will give you what you want now, or you could wait forever and still not see it in the core.

@Brogan such important things must not be done by a third party but must be in the core of xf.ut must be in the core of xf.
Simple CSS/LESS for those that desire other than basic (especially when provided to one in a cut/paste format) is not "third party" but simply changing the default behavior.

Those are not "important things" but tweaks that each admin has to decide upon.
Classic case...

"What is good for thee may not be good for me".
So, if they changed to something acceptable to you, others may have issue.
