After importing, how will xenforo assign 'friends'?

Im assuming 'friends' will be assigned to 'Following' AND 'Followers' so initially after the install the lists will be identical? I think thats the only way to import your friends...

I think that will result in unwanted results for members that have exchanged a zillion friend requests. lol.
It would drive members crazy and confused over the tsunami of alerts they will get.

you don't really get alerts from people you follow, just they're shown in the news feed :| unless I'm missing something

Yes, you are correct. Though I would like to have that option. I'm heading off to request alerts for 'posts by followed members'.

It just imports your contacts/buddies, of which friends are a subset.

Contact is a one way thing, you can have anyone as contact w/o them knowing. Probably makes most sense as a following, but not reciprocal follow.
Friends is a mutual two way thing, so if you're friend with someone, they've approved it. Probably makes most sense as a mutual follower (I follow you, you follow me).

It should assign them to it's xenForo equivalent which would most likely be Follorers.
