Yes, that is expected. there is a svAdvancedBbCodesPack_heading_4 phrase you can update to translate the "Heading 4" part

[H4] is translated to <H4>; [HEADING=3] is translated to <H4> as well (i.e. [HEADING=x] is equal to <H(x+1)>!). So, I guess in the screenshot above the "Heading 4" option is not necessary. 🤔
 
The add-on changes that behavior when the custom header bb-codes are installed, so [hx] = <hx>
 
Well, I just did the latest upgrade.

The point is: I have no [Hx] BB-Codes installed, but the "Heading 4" line is still displayed and when I use it it produces a [HEADING=3] line.

So, it seems there's still a bug with that behavior.
 
@Xon : Since 1.18.2 I have the issue that many of my H3s are nor longer displayed but as normal text instead. I remember having a sudden issue with headlines getting lost or additional headline BB-Code being displayed a while ago after having initially installed this add on - this could be fixed at that time by enabling the custom headline BB-Codes in the settings (in this case h3):

The issue was gone until the update to 1.18.2 of this add on, as I just verified on my test system with 1.18.1, both on XF 2.3.8.

The BB-Code of existing (older) headlines is:

Rich (BB code): 
[h3]headline[/h3]

Whereas now it is set back to standard for new headlines which is

Code: 
[HEADING=3]heading 3[/HEADING]


Said test system is a clone of my forum, thus the settings are identical to what they ere on my forum before installing 1.18.2. There, all the custom headline codes were activated:

So it seems that 1.18.2 has deactivated those codes but failed to replace the exiting BB-Codes in postings.

What is the best way to deal with this?


A second issue:

When I paste content from other websites or i.e. the ACP it includes formatting like "bold", or "center". There is the function to strip formatting which strips things like "bold" bot not things like "center". I do neiher know if thais is deliberate nor if this was different in earlier versions - would however be good to be able to get rid of all formatting.

Those are all activated, I think the logic around only partially activating the custom h1/h2/h3/h4 bb-codes is somewhat buggy.

What version did you upgrade from, this will help me determine what installer code is being executed.

The 'remove formatting' button is stock froala behavior, so the who know why and it is unlikely to be fixed. I'll look into this, especially with how this interacts with the extended copy & paste behavior

I reported the issue with lost headline formatting the first time on May 26th 2024 in this thread. At that time I had installed the add on freshly shortly before, first 1.14.7 on May 11th, upgraded to 1.14.8 on May 13th. To solve the issue i turned on all four h-BB-Codes back then. I then upgraded up until 1.15.16 w/o further issues as far as I remember, then my maintenance ran out.

From there I upgraded again to 1.18.1 when I updated to XF 2.3.8 two weeks ago and the h-codes kept being activated. no issues. With the upgrade to 1.18.2 all four headings got deactivated and I activated h3 specifically manually to see if it would solve the issue.


So the deactivating must have happened through the installer of 1.18.2. Worth noting that 1.18.2 also removed heading 4 from the editor - it was there up to including 1.18.1.

So I guess I can simply turn all four headings on in the custom BB-Code section and everything will be fine?
