No. What variable do you want to use exactly? Depending on the ad type and the variable, you can use it directly in the ad code.

I have a custom section (xf-based) that includes part numbers as part of the display. There's 1000s of them, it's not something i can make an ad for each one.

I want to monetize those but also use the ad manager if i can.
Currently I'm using an inline get-style url which dynmically makes the ad, but it's not tracked/logged through siropu like all my other ads and I want to try to get it there for reports/logs.




if i can create a placement there in the template and take that {var.partnumber} back via the custom placement macro, i think it can be done.

I'm hoping you can kindly offer advice on some config.

TL;DR: How can I best display ad units which can't repeat, after 3rd, 7th and 12th thread post container.

Long version;

We've recently changed ad partner, and I'm a little stumped trying to work out how to add 3 different ad units, all of which will only display once, below different thread post containers.

Previously, I had one ad unit which could repeat so I'd use;

'Below first thread post container'
'Below every 5th thread post container'

… but the new ad units I use, won't repeat and I so, I need a unique ad for each.

I've spent most of the day trying to work it out how I can pop these divs at the below locations;

I figured it was 'below thread post x container';




However, if I put x3, x7 or x12 here;



... it'll try and display the ad unit every 3 items, but the ad supplier dictate it will only load once per page so I'm then left with whitespace as the ad unit attempts to load. This occurs even when I enable a maximum of 1



Any help would be hugely appreciated - I've spent 5/6 hours trying to work it out and wonder if I've gone blind to an obvious solution.

Can prefix selection be in the actual admin ad creation instead of in general settings so we can create different style promo ads? For example someone may want to promote a product they have on sale so a "deal alert" prefix could be used. But you could also have a promo thread for website promotion or company news, etc. I thought this was possible and now am stuck with one prefix so can't do this for now. Thanks

You could keep it like you have it but have a prefix override in the actual promo thread settings so we can create different styles. I have 3 I want to create.

My best option for now would be to create the three promo thread.ads and set them up for approval so I could manually set the prefix upon purchase. This is assuming this would work and when they expired it would apply the prefix I have for expired promo threads. If that is possible I will probably do this for now. They will each have different prices too. So I am not asking for prefix selection by the user but by the admin when creating the ad for sale.

Sure, sorry. Let's say I want to create two promo thread ad styles. One is called Deal Alert. It applies a special deal alert prefix. The other is called Press Release. It has a press release prefix. Both will allow you to post your thread in the discussion area, but you would choose the promo thread that fits what you need. A deal alert or a press release. And I would have different prices for each. So basically I created a promo thread already, it has the default prefix, but I want to create a new one, different price, different prefix. It could even be in different forums. That's what I mean by style. Thanks

I guess a variation is a better word. I want to create promo threads that are tailored to the wording in the prefix so I'd like to be able to set the prefix per ad offering.

You need to make that variable global to be accessed by my add-on like: $xf.variableName

We use (just) 3 adserver code blocks in Ads Manager 2 to deliver our clients ads

But we want to offer text ads to adblocked traffic

I understand Ads Manager 2 has a text ad fallback function for visitors using an adblocker

Would it be possible to set up text only, fallback only ads? Just for visitors using ad blockers?

So could we run the 3 code blocks for regular traffic and have 30 or 40 text only ads showing to ad blocked traffic?

Would that work?

When ad blocker is detected the ad has the option to show a backup ad that can be a text but you cannot create special text ads for ad blockers.

Did I cause that?
