1. I'm considering buying XF for my business and would like to know how easy or difficult it is to make themes/extensions for Xenforo.

I have ~4 years in HTML,CSS,JS and ~5 years in PHP.

2. How open to developers is Xenforo, is the source fully or partially obfuscated?

3. What is everyones preferred hosting provider for XF? We (my company) is currently looking at DigitalOcean (Cloud), OVH (Dedicated) or Hetzner (Cloud or Dedicated)

You should have no issues working with the code and templates.
