I'm going to try asking for help again, this time with pictures. Once I get help with layouts, I'll work my way to help with some of the special block types.

This is what my home page currently looks like when I try and add a block to the Portal layout. Whatever I add gets squished down to the width of one block. I know that there is a way to stretch the block out to fill the red square in the picture, because I've seen it on countless other sites with XenPorta, but cannot for the life of me figure out how. I've spent hours playing with the options and read through the XenPorta FAQ thread and many of the bajillion XenPorta thread posts. The only thing I've managed to do is create alternative layouts that ALSO have squished blocks, (or large blocks I can't put anything in), and screw up the other sections of my site.

The answer may be something stupid that I've missed, and I won't pretend to be much good with scripting, which is why I'm hoping someone who has successfully figured this out can just lay it out, step by step, in a sort of XenPorta main portal for dummies post.

Do you have the block installed at "Position: Mid-Right"

Have you tried putting it in the top right rather than top left position?

Hehe, no worries. It's not obvious but top right is really "middle" for most peoples layouts.

New question. Does anyone know how to remove the thumbnail in Recentslider? (see picture below)

Also, does anyone know the correct size for a Recentslider slide.jpg so that it doesn't get cut off? I'll figure this out by guess and check if no one does.

I just did a fresh install of Xenporta on my forum. How do I go on making it so that my RecentNews block display the full article with all images and text in place. Right now it only thumbnails the first image and shows it on the side.

For example: http://www.terrariaonline.com/

All the article image shows up in full. How do I go on doing that or allowing full html in the editor? thank you.

Hey guys,

we've recently bought a new skin (Resurgent from XenStyles) and there are two issues with XenPorta. Maybe someone who is also working with XenStyles themes?

1. Problem is with the recent news slider, which is way too small (although it displays normally in our old theme)
2. the dates boxes are displayed huge.

I'll attach a screenshot.

Any ideas what changes would have to be made where? Thanks in advance.

I have a desire to enable full friendly URLs on my site.

This is working great on my dev site, where I cannot replicate this error.

But I am experiencing an odd redirect loop. The error can be reproduced with, or without the full friendly URL function enabled.

It is currently disabled, yet if I go to http://www.valvetime.net/forum Xenforo redirects me correctly to http://www.valvetime.net/index.php?forum.

If I add a trailing slash and go to http://www.valvetime.net/forum/ then I experience the error. I am incorrectly redirected to http://www.valvetime.net/forum/index.php?forum/

To make things more sinister, when full friendly URLs are enabled, then URL will cause the loop, trailing slash or not.

Any idea what causes this?

Advice greatly appreciated!

EDIT: I have posted this here because I originally thought that this was a general XenForo issue. However, the URL redirect loop is actually caused by the Portal being set as the index controller and forums being moved to /forum/. XenPorta is set up identically on my main site, and my dev site. Yet only on the live site do we have this problem. Using latest version of XenPorta and XenForo.

I did it by editing the template but I also think you can do it in your extra.css file which would be the better way. Both ways have been posted in the archived thread somewhere.

You set the size of the image don't you? Use firebug to check how big your space for the image is and set it to that.

Is Xenporta supposed to be using the board description for our meta description? Mine isn't, but when I look at the EWRporta_Portal template, i see this:

<meta name="description" content="{$xenOptions.boardDescription}" />

I have filled out the board description in my Xenforo basic settings. However, when I view the source of my xenporta homepage I do not see any meta description.

Anyone have any insight on this? I've been playing with it some more and still haven't figured it out.

Concerns me as I have question and answer verification on my sign up and these spammers were valid users?
My questions are boating related - like (what is the left side of the boat? - port) etc...

Actually, the steps to do this are found if you click the link in the Twitter Block search setup (fine prinet).
It takes you to twitter that shows how to do this..

The steps do not show any examples on how to add multiple feeds into the search field. I have tried a couple of combinations but so far i am at a loss as to how to add more than one feed.
