You can merge existing threads with new RM created discussion threads.
I did it here when the RM was installed.

Create a Resource Item without an auto post, instead, choosing to link manually to a #thread
No, the auto thread is always created. (edit: if set for the category)
Just then merge it with an existing thread.
The existing thread will then be linked to the resource.
Note the date of the resource is Feb 22 2012:http://xenforo.com/community/resour...and-the-install-directory-using-htaccess.353/
Yet the discussion thread date is Mar 16 2011:http://xenforo.com/community/thread...d-the-install-directory-using-htaccess.28234/

Is there a way to have the discussion be underneath the resource itself and not in a separate tab? Then you could use it for articles as a light CMS. Would be strange to have an article posted then go to a few tabs over to have a conversation about it.

I will buy it in the 1st day and will use it on my forum as an attachment manager for free songs, programs, etc.... 
Edit: I will integrate it with my custom download attachment manager that create a temp file with temp directory on the server to avoid multiple connection using PHP download method that increase server load

Just bought a new XF license and still on demo site but I will buy RM and Search for sure when I move my main site to XF
