Yes, New Posts has been my forum front page for years.
I don’t mean New Posts is my front page, I meant I have new posts widget there (among others). I felt the front/home page needs a lot more even though for most members New Posts is often all they need.

I think a home page needs stuff for guests.

I believe he means the same. I have that too. Showing just the forum structure in the year 2025 is...

Yes, I have a WordPress front end mostly for guests and a funnel to the forum. But if you click on forum or community, the forum home page is What's New

Maybe Pages needs to be tweaked then to be able to host a heap of different optional things that people can use.
A bit like SMF with their Packages and EzBoard options.

is it a sad that the xf developers do not look at what their nemsis offer and figure out a way to do better.
i really like the way that invision allows users to create custom content streams.
but xenforo still has not figured that ability out yet?

Hi Tracy, It's hard not to peak over there, even though, their pricing means I would never use them. It will be interesting to see what their Topic Summaries look like when they come(ing soon). I'm sure those will be very good for SEO

I'm getting the message I need to renew to get updates and support. I don't think I'm going to do that until there is clear evidence this software product is going to remain competitive. There are some other software products (;ole Discourse) that look like they are worth checking out if this one is starting to fade.

If you already have an established and active community, stick with XenForo no matter where you stand. But don’t waste time starting new ones nowadays, it’s just not worth it. CMS platforms have evolved a lot, and with dynamic fields you can create some really cool things. I’ve been working with Voxel for WordPress for months now, and I’ll probably migrate everything there. I think it’s the best choice for my community. But don’t blame XenForo for the decline of forums.

I'm so glad that i renew each time my license expires. Why? Because you cannot predict when the next update will happen.

It’s cute that you think renewing after expiration is some galaxy-brain move. Meanwhile, the rest of us just pay attention to the update announcements and renew when there’s actually something worth updating for. But hey, stick with your "renew-and-pray" routine if it makes you feel ahead of the curve. It’s giving "I don’t check the weather, I just carry an umbrella every day just in case."

Which kind of community do you host with Voxel and how do you monetize them?
I'm building a dynamic portal with a blog, business directories, maps, downloads, and I’ll also be using their forum addon for the few people who still want to write and all of this without needing any additional plugins. Maybe I didn’t express myself clearly in the previous message. What I meant is that my current site on XenForo, considering the kind of resources it offers and the audience it targets, is no longer sustainable. Even Google’s SEO has completely wiped me out since I migrated to XenForo I had the same articles ranking first, but as soon as I moved everything into the forum, those same articles stopped being treated the same way. I'm not saying it's XenForo’s fault, but the truth is that even Google isn’t what it used to be these days

I think everyone is noticing that Google is bad for forums. They threat WordPress really good compared to Xenforo Threads, so if you rely on Google for reach people and gain traffic you shouldn't use Xenforo basically.

I'm pretty sure it is mostly google's fault.

My traffic dropped 4 times around 20-30% on a few days after search ranking updates.

Even with changes, and there are been a lot over the years, lower visitors will end every site.
Indexed pages dropped by 80K a few days after this post 😆

It may be because people with Wordpress sites do better SEO mainly. You can’t really expect a rambling forum thread to compete with a well written and structured article.

Yes you can expect that. It was like this for decades. Just the last two-three years are getting worse for forums. I don’t see a decline in blogs.

It’s partially up to XF developers to make sure the software is as good as it can be SEO-wise. I’m not saying it’s completely their fault. This is mainly a three sided thing. Google, XF and admins. But there’s only so much an admin can do. I do wonder, when’s the last time we saw some SEO updates done to XF?

2.3 I think.

This isn't a SEO issue. Is just Google.
