Association failed: The returned assoc_type differed from the supplied openid.assoc_type

I get that error message.

So 3 forums

Master - Forum with no members, only the admin.
Slave 1 - Huge forum with all the users on it
Slave 2 - New forum with only admin on it.

The SSO does not work for any of these. I clicked on sync for both slaves, and no love.

Awesome. Thanks dude.

I have a question. If a slave has 600 members, will the other slave forum also share the members? Or does the master forum need to be the forum with the most members to begin with?

It doesn't really matter which has the most members, as once installed any member registered on a slave will be able to login on any of the other sites.

Hmmm,

it works from master to slave1. They both share the users. For some reason slave2 is not working... Is there some sort of time it needs to get all that info?

No. If there is an account on a slave, then you should be able to login with it on the master. I believe the only requirement for existing registrations, is that they login once at the slave, then they will be able to login at the master.

Existing registrations are handled a little differently, hence why the sync from slaves to master is there, so you can avoid issues with user questions by simply ensuring the master contains all slave accounts prior to it then handling all new registrations without issue, as every new registration goes through xensso.

I do believe this is one area that xensso can still delve into, being options for master control for such situations. The person obviously does the work on the slaves to disable profiles and such, redirecting them to the master.

I love this idea. I've never thought that I will redirect profile page to master. I can redirect profile, password changing, account pages to master via htaccess But It's great if XenSSO have options to do this.

More customization will follow but will likely be part of 2.0, as OpenID is not very flexible in that area.

@Dynamic (and anyone else looking for support), please use my support forums rather than posting here. I do not want to support pirates or give pirates a resource to troubleshoot. :)

Can I request user custom filed sync in next version, Naatan?
I have a field (Phone Number), I want to sync it between Slave & Master.

thanks.

I will include custom field sync in version 2.0, unfortunately I cannot give an ETA for this as I am very occupied with work at the moment. If you'd like to have this implemented sooner rather than later your best bet is to hire me for custom work or have someone else develop it for you. You are free to modify the XenSSO source as long as it's only for your personal use and doesn't break the license agreement.

I've been looking at this add-on for some time now and after launching two new forums this week (and members asking if there's a common sign-on) I've decided to take the plunge and have ordered. (y)

Looking forward to testing it out this week - thanks Naatan (and those who paid for the initial development!).

Cheers,
Shaun :D

I just purchased but I dont see the latest version on your main website, is it emailed or what? thx :)

1.0.7 is the latest stable version atm, I've taken 1.0.8 offline while I prepare an update to fix the issue people have been having with that one.

Thanks for your purchase :)

Thx! Also, I am curious exactly how this works. I currently have a forum with over 12k members and a new forum with no members, so basically i can install this and all my 12k members can visit forum B and can login with same info correct? Does it show on the new site all 12k members as well or?

thx :)

Yes, all 12k of members can then login to the zero member forum. No, it will not replicate member counts to the new forum, as it will only register a user onto that forum ONCE the member has logged in once.

All members get registered at the master, regardless where they signup, but not at slaves. Only slaves once visited.

Rather than reinventing the wheel with version two, is it possible to do something with this.

http://community.invisionpower.com/blog/1174/entry-7911-ipboard-34-dev-update-ips-connect/

This does IPS's aims already, being:
IPS Connect has no central application. In an IPS Connect network, one of the applications will serve as the master, and there will be any number of slaves working off it.
When writing IPS Connect, we had three main objectives:
  • Single Sign-On must be completely automatic and effortless. After logging into any application in the network, the user should be automatically logged into all others. And similarly, after logging out, the same.
  • The process should be completely transparent to the user. The user should be able to register an account, or update account information on any application in the network, and these changes should be pushed transparently to the other applications.
  • It should be easy for developers to make their web applications compatible with IPS Connect - and they should be able to make their web applications serve as either the master or the slave.
This SSO works as a master, you can use any slaves you want. The same as IPS offer, Naatan can develop a specific software app which plugs directly into this one.

This is not exclusive to XF, it is simply built for XF to XF networks. If someone wants one made for Wordpress, then Naatan can plug that into this existing infrastructure to my knowledge.

Naatan is the expert, though I do remember these discussions when this was being built, and if memory serves me correctly, it meets the above exactly.

I believe his next version will be even further streamlined, allowing greater flexibility for developers than is already present.

the point I was trying to make, was why spend time and money developing two different but the same systems. If they are interoperable then when someone develops a wordpress plug in which they will then it can be used by us etc.
