XenForo on 1.2

@Biker, we all know most people will update to v1.2 without a second glance. Adam Howard even has a thread about it. Doesn't mean I won't stop advocating that they be responsible and shouldn't do it (if they worry about things like moderation) and provide logical reasons. (y)

Generally good advice to follow, but some beta's are more stable than others. I used SMF2 beta for two or three years without any issues before it finally went gold. Life would have been a lot tougher without it. :cautious:

I'm genuinely curious: Why is the ACP being fluid make it unusable for you?

Because fluid styles look wrong. Fixed styles make sense, everything is in the same place and they look right.

I've always hated fluid styles, they feel wrong. I guess it is a matter of opinion.

I agree with @Liam W fluid styles in that large monitors are madness, too much empty space that ends up causing the style to being ugly.

I've reconsidered and won't be updating right away like i normally do. I'll be thoroughly testing this on my test site first since there's an add-on i use regularly which I know is being affected so it's a no go. :D

Thanks! I didn't get the e-mail *goes to check if old e-mail still listed* Guess that will be a halt for many @bobster65 will there be any of these same issues with sportsbooker or trader?

I'll probably test it out first, see which add ons work and which don't, and then upgrade when and if I start to see that the developers are updating their add ons early for 1.2.

Wow, XenForo just keeps getting better and better while VB5 is... just broken

The editor has an interesting loo

Will the jQuery version be updated with the 1.2 release of XF ??

I have hit a lot of issues running custom scripts / adding new features into my styles as the current xf is relying on a older jQuery library and most of the scripts / features i am playing around with are in need of newer / the latest version of jQuery.

Awesome work on XF and like many others am eagerly awaiting 1.2.

Regards, Darren

I switched from What's New? to New Threads a while ago but I have since changed it to New Content to see how that works out.

My reasoning is it's both new threads and posts on the "forums" tab and new media and media comments on the "media" tab so it is content agnostic and seems to encompass everything.

The nav tab name will also be the same on every page instead of New Threads, New Media, New Blogs, etc.

I'll still upgrade. Someone has to help him out finding bugs, if any...

I'll be doing a new (not updated from 1.x nor migrated from that other platform whose name I keep forgetting in my self-induced amnesia) but probably small forum on a civil liberties. There is a key website & blog for the subject, but they had to shut their phpBB board down last August when the spammies were doing their beta testing.

I plan on having it up & running withing a few hours after I hear that 1.2 Beta can be downloaded. Other pieces (domain, home page, account, database, etc.) are already in place. I just need to get that puppy downloaded, unzipped and installed. Is it ready yet?

I say probably small but it's hard to predict. The issue has gained a lot of steam & publicity in the last year and could do much better than its predecessor given XenForo's media-friendly characteristics, which is why I especially want 1.2 for the new drag & drop. Videos are all the rage in that area of the civil liberties debates today.

The only add-on I need (but not immediately to launch) is XenTag.

I might also need KeyCaptcha, depending on how well the vanilla 1.2 deals with the spammies.

(And no, I won't be wasting my time on challenge questions. This will be 12th XF forum that doubles as an attraction for the maggots also known as spammers, and I I simply don't have the time to waste changing challenge questions every day or three. There are more productive things to do with my time.)

Really looking forward to getting my hands on version 1.2, with the hopes of quickly moving one vB 3.8 forum to XF, see how things go then consider moving another 5 VB3.8 forums to XF as well. :D
