Is that right for a fresh install of 1.1 the database is 26.2 MiB with 32,582 records?

is 26mb a bit high for a fresh install wasn't 1.0 about 7mb?, or as a lot of modifications been added?

RTL is a new feature of 1.1.
They are for nested sets and have been there since the first release.

So there auto generatored as I have like for node one 1 & 10 and node two 2 & 3 and yet node six is 11 & 28
They are auto-generated based on parent_node_id and display_order. The Wikipedia page explains how the left and right values work. Essentially, it's a means by which an item and all its children in an infinitely nestable list can be selected or updated with a single query, and as such, it's hugely powerful.
