I don’t mean to be a pain but could you give a ballpark date on the self-hosted video ability for this add-on. It doesn’t have to be a compromise. I just want it so that I could get a little organized on our side for this.

Seems to be just you.

You absolutely should be able to create an album though.
I have been known to be technically challenged...no but really, you see the error, it was with an iPad if that matters. Tried the second time around and it worked with just choosing album- not category.

Can you like images from here? On an ipad it wouldn't let me click the thumbs up "like" button.

There were some, but they were all fixed very quickly.

But I still can't stress this enough: You must back up your existing board (files and database) and preferably test the import on a test server first. This is just common sense. I don't foresee any issues, but it's best to prepare for all possible eventualities.

I still don't know how far away I am from releasing Xen Media Gallery 2.1. But I thought I should start teasing you with some bits that I've been working on. Anyone who visits http://xenmediagallery.com regularly will know I've been fixing bugs and implementing suggestions, but this is one of the larger features implemented in XMG 2.1 so far:

To view this content we will need your consent to set third party cookies.
For more detailed information, see our cookies page.

This feature adds a new button to the editor, powered by the XenForo 1.3 Custom BB Codes system.

Clicking it loads your media, and you can click the thumbnails you want to be added to the editor.

You can also type the BB Code manually if you know the media ID e.g:

1234 is the media ID. The text appears inside a link to the full media item.

This embeds the media item into the post. And directly from within the post you can now see a preview of the image or video, details and information about the media e.g. stats and tags. If the media has comments, a comments tab is shown.

In the event that the media is not public, i.e. it is not shared with the viewing user, it is private or similar then all that will be rendered is a link to the media. No preview, no information and no comments will be shown. Also following the link will tell the viewing user that access is denied if they don't have permission to view it.

Ok Chris, you've convinced me. Just called my people and told them to buy Xen Media Gallery :)

(don't forget the vBulletin importer ;))

Terrific idea @Chris Deeming I like it very much :D This can be potentially expanded for instance; the user can inline search a media in the media library and retrieve it. This looks like so much fun ! :D:D:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Perfect. Exactly what I wanted.

Starting with XMG 2.1, the add-on will contain both full, uncompressed JS files and now compressed, minified JS files.

If you run your board with debug mode enabled, the JS will be served from js/xengallery directory in an uncompressed form.

If you don't have debug mode enabled (and most of you shouldn't), the JS will be served from js/xengallery/min directory.

with this addon can my users upload videos directly on my forum?
And if yes were are the videos stored?
And do the stored videos locally have a player?

I'm sure this has been asked somewhere before, but I can't find it:
How can I limit who can see full size images? I want guests only to see the thumbnails. Thanks :)
