As designed Wrong position of the user tag popup

Shouldn't it appear near the user tag that we're trying to insert?

I'm not sure if this is as designed or not, but I can confirm the behavior.

I remember it was appearing near the user tag (which was more appropriate).

This has been reported before and it was confirmed that this is as designed.

Imho it looks better if it appears near the user tag that we're typing (it was that way before). In it's current state it's an usability mess.

When was it this way before? It never has been as far as I'm aware. I just tested on my site (1.2.5) and it's the same there. I disagree that it's a 'usability mess', it's hardly that.
