I thought I'd jump in here with a word about 'gold'.
When a software company refers to 'gold', it is not a marketing term and it does not refer directly to the quality of the product. It should not be confused with 'the gold standard'.
In fact, 'gold' is a reference to the traditional colour of writable CDs. It is synonymous with 'RTM' (release to manufacturing). When boxed software is considered ready to be released to customers, a master CD is burned and sent to a CD manufacturing plant in order to do the production run of discs that would be sold to customers. That version would therefore represent the completed version, and the end of any pre-release period.
Oh wait does that mean we are getting CDs and boxes and stuff

Unboxing party at mine!!!!!!!!!!!
The pricing is great, but not for the amount of licenses I needThe pricing seems pretty good.
Another piece of possibly not useless information.
BACS payments made from and to UK Bank accounts are now done on a faster payment which means they will reach the destination account within 2 hours.
This doesn't work for Building Society accounts or Government accounts. CHAPS is required for them.
[Irish Accent]Over 800 years ago the Doctor stole is Type 40 Tardis from Gallifrey. Today he is posting pieces of useless information at xenforo.com - Now be honest, you didn't expect the Doctor to being doing that today, did you?[/Irish Accent]
I reckon many active users here will purchase 2 or more licenses. I agree with Anthony. A 500 -1000 range looks reasonable.
I highly doubt they will release confidential company information such as that into the public domain.I actually hope Kier and Mike provide us a little feedback on approx license sales a day or two into the sale... as I would even buy another if needed, just to have around to support their cause if initial sales aren't of their expectation.
Really? Maybe it's only a business banking thing then.I make BACS payments daily, and it only reaches the other account same day if it is to the same bank account, in which case in the case of barclays and HSBC at least it is instant.
Payments to any other bank account still take 3-4 working days, this is personal experience anyway.
If you want to support us financially, wait until day two of sales and pay the higher amountI actually hope Kier and Mike provide us a little feedback on approx license sales a day or two into the sale... as I would even buy another if needed, just to have around to support their cause if initial sales aren't of their expectation.
I can't decide how many to purchase "if" I'm able to catch the early adopters sale or not. I was thinking about multiple licenses if I catch the sale. But, I keep wondering about what lies ahead besides a solid forum product. Is there a list of what features you have in mind for the near future? I adore XF, but will require more than just a solid forum. Hence the wondering and the questions. A list would surely help me decide. However, I understand if you feel it's too early. The WP info makes me want to purchase more, btw. But, I can't make up my mind not knowing what else lies ahead in the near future.
Will you be implementing a CMS, or blog system later on?
Given the demand that has been shown on our forums, I would have to say yes, I expect that there will be. The difficulty with a CMS in particular is pinning down exactly what people really want. The definitions of 'CMS' as far as customer expectations seem to range from a simple article publisher to a tool that would allow you to build your own Amazon.com with a point-and-click interface. For the time being, our focus is on the forum functionality and ensuring that it provides best-in-class performance and user experience. Once we have nailed that, we will start looking at branching out.
If XenForo does not suit your needs now, don't buy it now. Judge us on what you see, and how you interact with the site. If you like it, buy it. If not, look elsewhere.
I think they deliberately choose not to go for the pre-sale since it might bring up bad memories for some[...] The only thing I will point out, the 24 hour sale needs to be open to pre-sale registration and payment. Not everyone can be on-line in a 24 hour window and there will be a lot of irritated people afterwards who just missed out. I'd hate to see those having issues installing this having to wait longer because of "customer service" related stuff for those who didn't get in and are moaning. Surely you'd like to take $100 early on? Get the money now and let us download it in October?

We make regular payments to Lloyds TSB, Barclays, Natwest, HSBC, Bank of Scotland/Halifax and Nationwide.
The only one that doesn't go the same day is Nationwide and any Government payments (there's way too many of those buggers made).
