Will there be Tapatalk support?

in memoriam 2024
Just wondering if you guys are working with Tapatalk to have support from the launch? I ask because AVF forums seem to always be advertised with Tapatalk and I'm wondering if they'd really give that up to move to XenForo or if they will be working from the get-go.

and the fact all forums are listed... its a REALLY bad idea, if your a competitive forum...
And there are ways to make it so they're not?

Having used Taptalk only the one time, it is entirely possible to do everything that was done with Tapatalk with a HTML5/CSS3/AJAX mobile skin, and optimize it and reach all browsers, not just ones that have installed their application.

so you can make your competitive forums not show up on tapatalk? is so its bloody brilliant and usless also!
Clearly you misunderstood; there are ways of making forums so they don't all display at once with HTML, just as there are with a native phone app.

I'm done responding to you, because you're just going to end up making me respond like a ****, and I've actually tried to be semi nice to people today.

How is tapatalk better?
The very fact you had to ask means you haven't use it. "It just is" is the most appropriate answer. Use it and you'll see- a mobile skin will never work the same way no matter how good it is. Tapatalk makes your forum an "app" where as a mobile skin still makes it just a web page.

To me, Tapatalk will have no future as the ideas are easily can be implemented by CSS, so only time will tell when it comes to perfection.

Folks honestly app is just another way of fishing a crab in the empty tank, the only great app is your current mobile web browser, so it's up to all the webmaster who clever enough to challenge the ideas.

What we want is straight to the point, which is delivering your news, content or ideas to you visitors. By having third parties to do that is pointless indeed. And please don't ask for something that your visitors have to pay to browse em, because not all of them are santa.

Depends on which side of the fence you are one it seems. The comments below are very simplified...

From the user standpoint having the ability to follow multiple forums from one app with the same format is quite handy.

From the site owner standpoint...what do you mean you visit other forums but mine!

Also as one that runs or admins multiple forums I don't need a mobile skin created for each one. I can just add Tapatalk.

The answer is support for both. There are advantages to using TapaTalk, especially if you have a rebranded version. My readers don't pay extra to use apps. I can be another bookmark on their phones or I could have an icon on their home screen.

On the other hand, I would love a mobile friendly site that does not require any downloads etc. in order to get the best possible experience.

Really, support for TapaTalk is up to TapaTalk. I hope they deliver it asap.

Thats all well and good if one has the skills. Not all of us have these skills and an off the shelf alternative is what we have determined is the best way to offer this sort of mobile functionality at this time.

Hello all,

Excited to see the discussion is still alive.. There will be Tapatalk plugin for XenForo eventually... much work has bee spent on cleaning up our API to make sure it can get ported to different forum systems quickly.

We are also including feature like "Like" in our upcoming API update, as influenced by what we see here. :)

Whats with all the negative Nancys around here? I have to say that I really get tired of people bashing new suggestions/features/options/whatever just because they personally don't like it.

If you don't want Tapatalk, don't freaking use it and don't buy it. Some should ask themselves: "does the world need to know why I think its useless even when I clearly have no experience with it?".

Personally I would rather have the team here work on much needed features while someone else did an App. Mobile skins are always and forever in the "coming soon" section of the forum provider. After all, its coming to the end of 2010 and the current "mobile skin" offerings from major forum providers is pretty weak at best.

I'd HIGHLY recommend having a version change list somewhere detailing what's changed between versions. I know a couple of sites that have been asked about it, but won't due to that not existing. More sites = more revenue, right? :)

This is the reason why I would never implement it. Whilst I dont run my forums for the sole purpose of generating revenue, it is something you need. Without ad placements, tapatalk is useless (IMO)

RickM and Awesome-O,

If ad placement is important to you, you may want to take a look of our up-coming feature of Admob support (that also allows you to house your own local sponsors' banners:

http://tapatalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3964

As soon as Apple approves our up-coming app, we will post instruction on how to activate it, with your own Admob account with 100% revenue goes to you.
