Whos Online IP Addresses & Vbulletin

My question is regarding the Whos Online function. I have Vbulletin forums and the single most useful tool for dealing with trolls is their Whos Online function which shows a complete listing/directory of everyone online at the forum & their IP addresses. I was and am ready to plunk down the 690 bucks for this software, however, I was searching these forums and cannot find anything that shows me Zen Foro has this function. If they don't have it, it probably a deal breaker for me. I found posts from 2010 asking and complaining this was not a function of the forums. And no evidence in all my searches show this function was ever finally added or this issue fixed.

It is nearly impossible to control a forum with heavy troll activity apart from being able to see a listing of all people online, guests and users alike, along with their IP address. Even most of the free forums have this function built into the platform so it would be inconceivable to think it isn't a built in function.

Has this function been finally added so it is the same as Vbulletin or better? I need to know because I cannot run a forum without this extremely necessary functionality. Without it the inmates run the asylum.

As a staff member, this page lists the IP addresses of each user:

You can see this for yourself on a demo: https://xenforo.com/demo/

This is available by clicking the "Members online" heading in the sidebar block.

To be clear, this has been a feature of the software since XF 1.0.0 at the earliest and as far as I can see part of all public releases, even those before 1.0 so not sure what those old posts were referencing.

Like Chris answered, admins and staff with permission can see the IP addresses in WoL, and also on-click you get any IP searched using the "whatismyipaddress" tool. So it's actually more advanced than vB.

Additionally, we at OzzModz/Snogs offer an add-on that puts the user agent string, in WoL as well.

I'm happy to give you a Super Admin account on my dev board, if you want a driver's seat tour of xenforo. Just contact me via the private message system.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone! Just so people know where my references came from they came from these 3 threads;

2010: https://xenforo.com/community/threads/whos-online-ip-addresses.5815/
2010: https://xenforo.com/community/threads/ip-addresses.4971/
2010: https://xenforo.com/community/threads/adding-ip-addresses-to-members-online-now.6350/

And thanks for that offer James I would like to take you up on that offer as I would love to see that function live with my own eyes.

Cheers-

You can set perms to allow it to be seen by all if you wish.
Let me clarify. In our previous Vbulletin forum, each sub-forum had a list of who is currently browsing that sub-forum at the time.
in XF, it seems like we only get that list at the forum as a whole, not the individual sub-forums.
Does that make sense what I'm looking for?

Yes that's available as an add-on here, it escapes me who offers it. I could be wrong too. I suggest search xf forum with those terms. Hopefully someone will come along and tell you where that product is.
