is there an captcha or similar implemented? maybe askimet?
I was wondering about this to because when i signed up their wasn't one
Did you not see the re-Captcha when you registered?
I had to enter reCaptcha when registering
I didn't but then I signed up via FB integration...
I wonder how many spam bots have Facebook profiles.
I'm curious about this aspect too. ReCAPTCHA isn't enough any more.
Nvm. It was just so easy i didn't really think of it as that :|.
ReCAPTCHA & Question-Answer system are must haves! At least one of them should be made available for all types of registrations.
All "Captchas" are not enough today. But what do you want to do? In some countries, people get money for write spam in blogs, boards and so on.
I do not know about a god spam detector and to build some one, is not easy.
For spam bots are exists some nice "tricks", like: rename field names from "email" to a hash-strings, but for blind person, you must use a label-tag and a good spam-bot can understand this.
+1 for the Q&A system ...
Only bots don't need breaks ever.
Q&A apparently works well for many. Akismet works well, as does IPB's system for what I know.... reCaptcha not so much in my experience.
XenForo shouldn't worry about an anti spam system. It's someone elses job. XenForo should only provide support to third party anti spam solutions. IMHO.
Do you see any bots on this site so far? They're probably trying to figure out where the register button *is* - only humans will think to click the pulldown register form.
I do not think you can have it for Facebook / twitter logins.
There is a fantastic and quite unique spammer management system in the ACP (although I agree emphasis should be placed on prevention).
I think that the guys behind the software will not forget about the bane of the internet spammers.
Q&A would do good.
