XF 2.2 Question about the article system

I really like the article based forums (looks very nice in combination with the uix2 material design) and we want to use them for our upcoming board but there is one feature we are interested in an I want to know if there is already a built-in feature or an existing addon to make that possible.

We would like to mark existing posts in other forums as articles and if user click on the article they should get send to the respective post/thread. A workaround would be to copy the post with the moderation tool, lock the new article and insert the link to the actual post for fruther discussion. But it would be nice if this could work out more elegantly :)

Thank you in advance for your help!

Any thread can be converted to an article thread if the forum it is in allows for that thread type.
Thanks for your reply Brogan! Thats also very convenient but not what we are looking for.

To describe our usecase further: we plan to have a forum dedicated especially for news/articles but we also have other, normal forums (no article type) with threads dedicated to different topics and sometimes there a posts within these threads which we want to highlight as articles (in our article type forum) but discussion should still be in the respective thread, not in the new article. Ideally the post should be highlighted within the article preview view but when clicking on it, instead of being forwarded to a new article, the user should be forwarded to the thread where the post originated from.

You can't set a single post as an article and then link that to the thread.

You could create a custom HTML widget and manually format the content.
OK, that's good to know that we haven't overlooked anything and it's simply not possible per default. Thanks again!

Any known addons which could be useful towards that purpose?
