Showing the version number to your visitors gains them nothing, so it's not there. Same concept as the rest of the XenForo UI.

Yay! Really cant see why some people think its a good idea for it to be shown to users...they cant do anything with that information (other than hunt for exploits).

Great attitude. I wish other developers followed that ideology.

I just like the like button, if there were social groups, I'd create the 'I like the like button' group :)

Feel free to, I'm not a facebook guy. It's cool and all, but it's going way to far...

Why is there no version number running on the forum telling users what this forum is running ?

The official XenForo.com site is always somewhere between the current and next release.

Updates are rolled out on a continuous basis and once there is justification, a new public release is made available.

I've also merged your thread with an earlier one suggesting this.

Listing the version number is a borderline security issue. Thus, we only expose it to the admin in the CP.

Correct Mike, but I was asking why you are not running it here so customers or potential customers understand what version this forum is running, that make good sense.

It does? I fail to see how.

Why do you fail to see how Kier ??

Many people will think it is still in beta for a good long while, believe it or not many do not read all the threads here !!

There's nothing to suggest that it is in beta.

Those same people most likely haven't updated their forum software to the latest if they don't know what the current version is.
Does it make a difference to show them what xf.com is running?

    AnthonyCea Well-Known Member

It might Andy, so there is another reason !!

It's the site manager's role to keep a tab on this. The AdminCP displays the version.
