All I have to say... 106 queries?
I'd like this 106 times if possible.
I know it's wrong to enjoy the misery of others but this vB5 release just brings out the smile. I can't help it.

I saved this for my own enjoyment. Might make it my Wallpaper.

Obviously.

Just shows how low some people will stoop in some bizarre attempt to somehow get one over IB I guess.
Come on Paul... you're an innocent person working for a living, for IB, no issues with that. But don't try and defend them... that would be naive on your behalf.

IB aren't an innocent company. If you deny that... then you're in serious denial. IB have a documented history of screwing people over, especially people they buy sites from, let alone other activities they involve themselves within. They're simply not a reputable company, and any such claims otherwise are ignoring all the evidence of their own volition.

This thread has gotten old. You all should really find something else productive to do with your time. I quickly lose respect for the whole discussion when it starts to look like a junior high school bashfest. By the way "Mr. Anonymous", if you know of a security flaw, be a decent human being and report it.

I think this thread needs to be locked and no more vB bashing needs to be permitted. It makes us all look like a bunch of immature amateurs.
I think it was decent enough to inform the general public that there is one. I could have simply left it all to myself.

When in doubt, it could always suck more. Please remember that.

You wanted attention, nothing more.

I find exploits for things all the time (It's part of what I do for a living), and there are ethics when disclosing exploits (This goes for any company). You bypassed every step other than the full and immediate public disclosure, and then you brag about it on a site that could likely take the fall as they're currently involved in a legal battle with the company you've outed. It's pure grand standing for attention.

Just remember, every site that gets hacked with this exploit is on your head and I severely hope it comes back to bite you in the ass.

I thought beta was the end product, though fixing glitches. Then RC was refining, then Gold being stable... with bugs, but nothing life changing.

If beta has 106 queries, then I consider that to be a little more than major!

This is where we differ in opinion. But you're welcome to yours. It's a free world.
Perhaps. But by not reporting the possible exploit, you choose to value your opinion about IB over those that do choose to use vB5. This can possibly result in putting those people in a position where the exploit can be used against them - the innocent customers - while they do not know about it and as such can not respond to it, making it a lot less free.

Personally, I feel that this will hurt innocent users rather than IB, and as such is a bad decision, despite any negative feelings towards them.

You're right, it's a free world, and you're free to make this decision. But personally, I disagree. :)

It's interesting how this thread survived this long ! I remember while back they used to close every vbulletin related threads here with some kind of competator excuses. Guess we *fanbois* are too much sometimes .

Everytime you guys post a bug, you help IB out. Stop looking for bugs!
While you were being sarcastic, it's more about protecting customers than it is about helping the companies.

I don't care fore Oracle, Apple or many other companies, but I still notify them about exploits.

This is the total listing of developers, q/a, project managers etc, working at VB. Wow, just wow.
If quality can't be bought, go for quantity to make up for it. Unfortunately for IB that's not how it works in this business. And it's not how it works in most tech companies. You need the right selection of people, all very dedicated and free to work like artists. IB shows us everything that is currently wrong with (American) businesses. They're in many cases focussed on finance, services, speed (not the product, the delivery lol) - instead of production, creativity, quality, competition. Sure you can make money doing all the wrong things, for a while. But you can't do it forever.

Here is the *MASSIVE* vB5 dev team.

ouch.
Now I understand why he deleted my posts
When I said "two against an army of dev " to get a correct product.
the truth hurts.
I will prepare my luggage
Otherwise I see it (VB5 alpha released) as a big advertising campaign
Anthill in a panic rush for customers
