Lack of interest Variables in template phrases

Would it be possible to allow variables in template phrases or is this feature not possible because phrases must be cached in templates?

I know, some parameters can be added to phrases, but what I mean is really to use a variable as the phrase name.

It's mostly done to discourage usage as that's very inefficient - it would end up costing 1 query per phrase.

You can set that up in the view and then reference that variable if you have to.
