XF 1.5 Usergroup promotions

Am I right saying the promotion system will only add users to a secondary usergroup?

I've imported the users from vb all users are in their primary usergroup but the promotion system only adds secondary usergroup so their primary usergroup is still being displayed in the forum.

That is correct.

In XenForo all users should have the Registered user group as their primary one and secondary user groups to give additional functionality. Permissions are designed to be cumulative.

Ok so I have all users primary useroup as registered and the user promotions setup. I have VIP users that are added manually, Display Styling Priority is set correctly to show VIP user title user name css but is it right to show 2 banners for the user?

It's showing VIP banner & the usergroup gained via promotion banner.

You can set the banner options to display the highest one only.
