User map [Deleted]

Did you uncheck Show Individual Pins on ACP?

I do not know why but when I uncheck it, it shows the pins, ha... And when I zoom out: the heat map... okay... half a solution – so far so good, is this a bug?
Still have user groups with image.png pins and they are not shown...

So.... I did as you said to setup the stuff...

The mass update actually showed a page with a list of updated locations from the users (who had filled in their "location" field).
The Google Page showed "Activity" in the stream...
Still no pins on the map...

To avoid wasting my time by continuing with fishing in muddy waters, I strongly recommend that @CrispinP posts a "best practice for setting up Google APIs for this add-on" as reference here, so we can be sure at least that we have done all right according to the functionality of the add-on. If we have done it right in setting it up and it still doesn't work, we can be sure it is a bug.

That should always be the case with ANYTHING Google related. Sheer number of APIs and security measures can be overwhelming even for seasoned devs. This addon is looking really good on paper so far. I'll get it as soon as the initial pains are sorted out. Great job @CrispinP

I really feel like a dummy - what I am missing here, I don't get this to run. Is it the same, as you guys did or do I forget a step?
I always get 404 when trying to call usermap.
I'm guessing that Google can't do this correctly if you don't have it installed on a server = local machine won't work

peeps - I've not run away or hiding. I'm utterly snowed under with crashed servers, PIA hosting companies and domains which have gone missing.

Slowly but surely I'm getting on top of it all and will be able to pay some more attention here in the next few days.

I'll play catch-up in a few days :)

Version 1.7 still getting this error, which I found is happening when a user with no map location filled in, opens the "View your own map" link...

Can I have the link to the user map?

Can you see he Map Location field in the user fields? I cannot reproduce this and only seen it happen once before which we decided must have been because the user clicked on it while it was installing.
Have you any out of date templates? Any warnings about out of date templates in ACP?

I always get 404 when trying to call usermap.
What's the URL? Can you show me (PC?) a screenshot of the options page.

Regarding the two keys - best practice would be to get both. They both free, just get them, add them and it'll be ok.

NOTE:
There is a bug with 1.7 where it will not show the pins if you have "Show Individual pins" ticked. I will fix that soon.

Pins not show -

What's the URL of the custom pins?

It would be great if this would have ACP option checkmarks to have the map in different locations (multiple choice):
  1. Main Nav Tab ("Member Map")
  2. "Members" --> Sub Nav Tab (as proposed by @Mouth )
  3. User's Profile (As "Profile Tab") (With user pin centered)
(and of course remove it from the "Forums" tab, because it has nothing to do with forums)

Has anyone tried to use custom icons yet? It's not showing.

It happens when I am logged in as ADMIN who has NO PERSONAL MAP LOCATION filled in – while visiting "View your map". When I visit as admin WITH a map location filled in, the error does not occur.

I asked for the URL - not a screen print. ;)
I think I can see the problem though - it needs a full URL, not the path to the icon. See the description below the options box.
For a specific group you can specify a custom color (eg dadada) or a url to an icon (eg:http://mysite.com/images/maps/myicon_for_group_1.png)
Prefix it with your full URL and see if that works?

All cool ideas which are on my list. They'll come in soon in a future release.

That's a cool find. I think I might know what it is then that is causing it. It has also just shown another bug whereby clearing the location does not remove you from the map. I'll get that fixed too.

disabled add on, can't get it to work and my site is about to crash with all the errors.

2nd time I've bought a map product and the 2nd time I'm left unhappy

Where is the instructions to running the mass update?

Where is the instructions as to which API to use and is it server or browser?

Scroll back in this thread and read through my posts about this all @DieselMinded.

Site won't crash because of server errors. I had 4200 in a matter of minutes when running the mass update. Mine was fine.

It's a combination of things and the dev isn't full time (read his posts recently) so take it step by step. Set up API first, make sure you have that all done correctly. Refer to my mistakes.

I created an account, can't see anything as you've disabled it. Can you re-enable it, add my to a group and allow access to only that group?

I think something really odd has screwed up with the installation. I'll need access to the map to try and work it out.

Regarding the api keys - you need both. It's just easier.
