User Group Promotions... are they logged?

I noticed one can search promotion history in the ACP. Is this logged in some way? I don't want to have a long log file somewhere on my hosting server that I don't know about.

I'm not 100% sure what I'm asking, but I plan on switching over to xenforo here pretty soon, but due to the spam attacks I'm thinking about using the promotion system.
(example: all new registered users will not be allow signatures... spammers love to put their links there don't they)

There are measures you can put in to stop spam, as explained here. You won't really need to use usergroup promotions for spam if you put in measures.

For example, I'm using both KeyCaptcha & XenUtiles to stop spam registrations.

Works well, and haven't had spammers come.
