RM 1.1 Time limit on editing resources same as for posts?

I've just added the RM to one of my sites, and I'd like to be able to make it so that editing can be done at any time. However, I don't want to extend the same unlimited editing time limit to the forum (perhaps something like 1 day).

Is there a way that this can be done? From what I understand, both resources and posts rely on the same group permission entry?

Resources simply don't have an edit time limit. (The concept of the RM is targeted at content that may need to be updated over time to maintain relevance so an edit time limit doesn't fit that model.)
