Thread counts are off the charts high.

Site is https://www.hobby-machinist.com. Not all threads are affected. Some threads have view counts approaching 10M. I have done all of the rebuild of caches. Nothing helps.

Any ideas what is going on?

What was the latest change done to the forum, like installing a third party add-on or doing some manual changes to the files for example, prior to this happening? Changes like this are almost always triggered by something. They just don't occur out of nowhere. That would help imo to pinpoint the cause of the issue.

If there was a change, I can't recall exactly what it would be or if it was timed with this phenomenon. The only issue we have had a real difficulty in the past year is our search engine not working properly. Other than that, nothing has dramatically changed.

The change doesn't have to be dramatic or big in order to cause an issue. For example, if you have installed a small third party add-on that it's poorly coded with infinite loops or inefficient database queries to just name a few things, it can cause huge issues. Speaking of add-ons, what add-ons have you installed?

What about server side, anything changed in there recently prior to the issue happening?

I noticed that you listed your forum version as 2.3.0. That's an older version. Have you considered to upgrade to the current latest version? That might fix the issue at hand, not to mention the security benefits as well as the numerous bugs that have been fixed since that version.

Installing 2.3.8 and then getting Elastisearch to be stable proved to be major challenge. We are kind of stuck there.

I'll have to dig in a little further.

Are there any errors logged in recently at all either in the forum's or server 's error log?
