Themes and localization

Hi there, people!

I'm really interested in XenForum but I have some concerns till now. Is XenForo easily localized? And are there any Brazilian Portuguese for the current version? I've seen only for an old one but I don't know it it would be ok to use it with the newest version.

Also, can it be updates from within the application itself?

About the themes, where can I see the themes available to XenForo? And are these themes compatible with different localizations?

Thanks a lot,
Daniel Bittar.

Here is a Portuguese language pack for 1.0. It will still work in 1.1, though it may be missing some of the newer phrases:

There is no auto-update feature in the software.

There are also several sites that sell professional styles for XenForo. They are all at the top of these Google results:

Well, I've seem some forums styles that use imagines for buttons like new thread, reply, post and so on making it hard to locale. This is the reason I asked.

Also, is XenForo very resource intensive? I currently have a VPS with Wiredtree but I've been considering going back to MediaTemple as my sites have a small number o visitors by now and Wiredtree is foinf to cost $64 and MediaTemple $16 in the (gs) service. Would it be a problem running the forum there?

Thank you very much.

Daniel Bittar.

Most styles don't use images for buttons. But if they do, they're easily changed.

Most styles will use similar features to the default theme. The new thread button here, for example, is not an image. It's just styled very well with CSS:

HTML:
<a href="forums/xenforo-pre-sales-questions.5/create-thread" class="callToAction"><span>Post New Thread</span></a>

And if you dig deeper, "Post New Thread" text is phrased so easily localised.

EDIT: As for VPS - XenForo is very easy on hardware specifications. If you detail specifically what your specs are then I'm sure someone here will tell you how it compares to theirs. Most people are very happy with XF resource usage.

Well, I mean, my VPS has plenty of room for XenForo but I'm considering going back to a shared hosting as I'm using less than half of my capacity. The (gs) service I talked is a shared hosting solution. A different one, true, but it is. I would ask it better this way: How many concurrent users would make XenForo need dedicated resources and in a VPS?

Thanks a lot,

Also, how many different forums can I have with one XenForo install in one server?

You can have only 1 forum per license if you mean a complete installation of the software.

http://xenforo.com/license-agreement/

Before deploying the Software, you must register in the XenForo.com customer area the address (URL) at which You will use the License. This URL must be kept up-to-date. You may create a single additional test installation for the purpose of testing the Software. Any test installation of this kind must be password protected, and access to it must be limited to You and Your website staff.

While there is no hard limit, you can encounter delays at save time if you have an excessive number of nodes. It may be noticeable with more than 100 nodes. But the delay is only at save time due to permission calculations. XF trades extra processing at save time for optimal performance at run time.
