Any future plans for updates for Xengallery @sonnb ? Share photo via the editor? Auto size images on upload? Etc?
I am going to fix all reported bugs.Any news on the clusters problem? The gallery map is useless like this.
There is no way to do that. But you can give users permission to import their threads to gallery. Is there a way for threads to be automatically imported into the gallery?
For example if i import a thread today. Say someone posts another image into the thread. Can that image also be updated and be in the gallery?
Also can i set a forum so that all of its threads are automatically converted into gallery? My users dont like to 'upload to the gallery', but rather just post pics into the threads.
Hi there,
I have been using your Add-on for several months (thanks, it works great!) and have just applied a new style.
For some reason, the gallery pages are using the old style even though it is completely disabled in Styles.
Do you know what I might be able to do to force the sonnb gallery add-on to use my new style?
Thanks.
Also, most of my members choose NOT to use the gallery due to having to resize the image every time. Most people are not camera or computer savvy when it comes to resizing photos and most people just "point and shoot" with what ever setting size their camera is preset for which generally is "large", It would be a huge plus to have an automatic resize of images when uploading so members would not have to seek a resize program to add photos to their gallery. It really discourages tim to use it...I have been playing with this a lot lately and have been trying to make it more functional.
Some things that I think my members will find confusing:
1- The default "home" for the gallery. It's great with the options, but for you can't make "collections" or "categories" as the home page for the gallery.
For example, I have threads that have themed youtube postings in it. They all relate to one topic (they fit one category). So when someone clicks on the Gallery link, it makes it hard to find any of the themed videos that fit into one Category. Would be nice to have a "Home Page" default view for Collections or Categories".
2- Currently when you have Categories, you have to create an album to match the category. So anytime you upload a video or picture, you have to have a matching album. When you upload a picture or video why can't you simply assign the individual upload to the category?
For example, I run a Chicago Bears NFL message board. Lets say I have a Category where I want people to share tailgating pics in a specific Category. I have these as "my albums": Random Pics, Chicago Bears Pics (my own stuff), Funny Stuff etc... So currently in order to upload to the "Tailgating" Category, I have to create a NEW album and link that to the "Tailgating" category.
So when I have Chicago Bears things I want to share, I personally don't have the sorted into specific albums, but if I want to share when in a Category, I HAVE to. Or am I missing something?
3- Maybe putting a "Members Albums" in the navigation link bar for the Gallery. So you can view Member's albums? Right now, you have to re-click the Gallery link at the Parent Xenforo navbar.
4- Put an upload link so a member can directly upload to a Category? In order to add something to a Category, they have to upload it to their albums, also creating an album that is linked to the Category they want to upload it to. This is sort of related to #2 above. This just would make it easier for members to add content to Categories.
I understand there are a million different requests, and the gallery is awesome! I love it. I just want to make it more user friendly, so members will use it more. Currently it took me some time to understand how members can post to Categories. It's not easy, and takes some thinking. Most members don't want to spend time to figure out how to do it.
Thanks for you consideration.
Are your referring to dimensions resizing or image size (kb)? Also, most of my members choose NOT to use the gallery due to having to resize the image every time. In other words, the max size of the image size would be set in the ACP - example: you want the max size 600x600 px. The member would upload a photo that is 1200x1600 px and it would automatically resize to 600x600px - the max image size set in the ACP. Most galleries have this, the same way Xenforo has it in threads and posts when uploading an image - it automatically resizes to the what ever you have set in the ACP. Members now have to find an image resizer program, resize the image, then they can upload it to the gallery. Most people will not go through the trouble. My gallery really does not get used anymore due to this…Xen media gallery is this way as well. Are your referring to dimensions resizing or image size (kb)?
So what's the problem setting max resolution to 5000X5000?In other words, the max size of the image size would be set in the ACP - example: you want the max size 600x600 px. Images with that size could be uploaded, eating up available space quickly on the server. So what's the problem setting max resolution to 5000X5000?
It takes up HUGE amounts of space on my server...So what's the problem setting max resolution to 5000X5000?
Yes, and? So what's the add-on has to do with this? limit the file size per picture if you're cheap on server space. My deminisions are 0 (unlimited), and file size limit is 6MB/picture. I currently tried to upload a 5MB picture with 3872 × 2592 and had no problems at all.Images with that size could be uploaded, eating up available space quickly on the server.
