sonnb - XenGallery (XenForo Gallery) [Deleted]

Went to your demo site and couldn't upload photos from my iPhone because they are too big.
If this addon is going to be used in a photography community, we are going to have to give them the ability to upload some huge photos. You might want to adjust your demo site settings.

Also the new setting to allow people's profile link to go to their gallery rather than their profile card - I think that should be a user option, so each user can choose where the link goes.

I have to say, the more I explore this addon, the more impressed I am. The location (using Google maps) and Exif data portions are lovely.

Also really like the camera data. How is that maintained? Could we have a moderator update the data? Or do you release regular importable files of data?
I see lots of potential here. Linking the camera page to Amazon, linking from our editorial pages about that camera to the camera gallery page.

Also we have a monthly photo competition. It will be interesting to see how this addon can be used to better organise the competition, and maybe award prizes with the number of likes each photo in the competition gets.

This is exciting.

  1. Is there any chance you can increase the upload limit on your XenGallery site to 5Mb? I'd like to test XenGallery with a few large photographs of 4-5Mb to see how it performs. If not, could you put up an album with some 4-5Mb photographs for demonstration?
  2. Do you have any sort of timescale for when you will add video capability to XenGallery? I'm particularly looking at linking to videos from YouTube, Vimeo etc. This is a feature I really need for my site, as well as uploading images to albums of course.

I'd disagree with that. Personally I'm not keen on this new feature but at least it gives admins a choice on whether to use it or not. On my site I'd want consistency on how people's profile link works and I would prefer that all point to the profile card rather than the gallery or if I was to use it then all profile links point to the gallery

Incidentally @sonnb what happens if a user doesn't have a gallery, where does their profile link point to?

@Martok I see your point. The best option would be to allow admin to choose to link to profile (normal behaviour), gallery, or user select. For user select, each user could choose which to link to.
Personally I would choose the normal profile link behaviour and then have a link to their gallery in their profile.

That would be fair enough, giving it as an additional option in the ACP.

There is a photos tab in the user's profile as you can see on the XenGallery site, e.g.

I have not time to write the roadmap yet but I would like to bring the best for. Currently in the to-do list:
- Overlay for photo view
- Add the ability for users to add text balloons to their pictures
- Slideshow (like google+)
- More importers
- ...
Chris Deeming's add on lets you use any media that has a bbcode... can yours do this or do you plan to add this feature?

We have option for this.

Camera data was populated upon install. These data come from Flick and you could change them as you like in AdminCP.

It would focus on the photo first. Once I have finish photo's features, I would work on that.

Simply it display a pages with no album.

Hi,

I have an error when I try to upload the XML file (1.2 RC1):
An exception occurred: Mysqli prepare error: MySQL server has gone away in /home/testing/domains/**.co.il/public_html/library/Zend/Db/Statement/Mysqli.php on line 77

You might want to increase "max_allowed_packet" setting in your mysql setting (my.conf). During the installation, it would import camera data so this value need a little higher.

Would you consider the possibility of creating a bookmarklet image scraper like pinterest has to add images from other sites to the media gallery? This would be an incredibly awesome/useful feature!

@RoldanLT, I'm wondering about vbulletin 4 specifically and hoping for an estimated timeline - thanks though. (otherwise I need another solution that can currently do the import - can't wait for something that's not coming :p)
