So whats next (after v1 final)

I would imagine it would be bug fixing the small bugs others will find. But over all, what do you think they should work on next or will work on next?!

I'm hoping for an official blog or bridge. While I know the majority maybe hoping for a CMS.

I am hoping to see little additions to the overall product itself, ie. to avoid the stereotypical bloat that will eventually occur through just adding this, just adding that, and the list goes on and on... into the core.

I would love to see XF expand into official paid products (mods), being Gallery, Blog, CMS, Media, etc etc...

There are those around with free versions already, so there are automatically two markets obviously... and I believe XF could do a far superior job in all these areas in paid products vs. standing on toes of developers existing free mods. I would gladly pay for the quality of an official XF CMS, Blog, Gallery, Media, File Downloads, etc etc etc, and obviously the annual upgrades that come along with those products for future expansion.

Actually, I don't think I could hand my $$$ over to XF fast enough as they began releasing and supporting such official products.

I think the underlying question in the original post is very valid and mostly the reason why I haven't bought yet.

What's next? No clue. It could be something completely useless to me, the things you need for your community may or may not be in the products future. There is no cohensive plan for the product outside of a few dudes writing some code for whatever their whims might be.

What is the long term goals for XenForo Ltd, the software, developer staff growth, etc. There are lots of important questions regarding the long term growth and viability of the product. Questions that so far, are ignored.

Again, look at XenForo business as a model. What is the model? (The obvious answer is not necessarily the truth). What are it's income sources, how does it appreciate marketshare, can it maintain growth with limited offerings, what new revnue adding offerings will help it grow the business, allow it more developers, etc.

Software evaluation is one thing, evaluating the business offering the software is another. I do both when I make my purchases. The software is solid, I'm just not yet convinced that the business is in the long term.

#1 Whats next? Is it really any of OUR business what is next?
I for one, am glad I don't know what is next. That keeps me hungary for more. I do not think "whats next " will cause you to buy xenforo one way or another. And again, all this is just MHO only. "There is no cohensive plan for the product outside of a few dudes writing some code for whatever their whims might be."
I would think the majority of people who support Kier, Mike and Ashely would take offense to this. I certainly have.
But I am just someone that buys the product from a few dudes that I TOTALLY trust with they're forum software.
I am totally 110% happy with " a few dudes writing code here."
Long term goals? (see #1 above)
What is the model? What so you can copy someone else' creation? Go in the forum software sales business yourself?
"There are lots of important questions regarding the long term growth and viability of the product."
Kier, Mike, Ashely and the rest of the staff and have a crystal ball. I know I have one. I think I will consult mine to find out what long term growth and viability of the product is to answer that question.
"The software is solid, I'm just not yet convinced that the business is in the long term."
So then don't buy a license yet until you are convinced that the business is in the long term.

Any guesses as to who founded vBulletin.org? :sneaky:

I still keep forgetting the internet is funny...
"Limm and Percival created Jelsoft and released their work as a paid solution, called vBulletin 1."
"Percival decided to step down as lead developer and product manager, turning his roles over to Kier Darby. vBulletin 3"
As to VB.org I can only guess but I bet it was not Percibal or Limm.

vBulletin is useless without vBulletin.org

Well... I used vBulletin for 10 years without the need of any add-on. Obviously this is different for everybody, but I am one of those people who will always prefer essential functionality to be part of the core (or officially developed/supported add-ons by XenForo Ltd themselves) instead of being depended on third-party add ons (which may vary in their professional quality and (even lack of) support, etc, etc.)
