Snogs Site was down, it is now back up ... move along, nothing to see here

So just a heads up, Snog's Site is down if you've purchased any of @Ozzy47 's or @Painbaker 's mods. I was going to purchase the new verification badges add-on but the site's been down for me all day and i can't seem to reach it.

It's been down for a few days now. At first, it was flagging a database error and now, if left long enough, Cloudflare reports an error on the website side. It must be something pretty serious to be down this long. Hope @Ozzy47 and @Painbaker can get it sorted soon.

Bad bad bad. We'll be going back to cpanel as soon as we're fixed.
Glad to hear it!

@Max Taxable Can ya confirm something for me? The verification badges add-on, is there a permission system to allow for only certain types of verification badges to be seen or submitted for if the user is in a certain usergroup? Thanks!

I'm not familiar enough with that one to be able to answer your question. @Painbaker will see this and I'm sure he'll be able to help.

I’ve always used cPanel. They’ve made a huge mistake to change their support forum to their awful self made thing, but it’s still the leading panel.

Well, this made the decision about looking at using CyberPanel when I migrate to a new server easier.

They're not the first software to have an exploit, and won't be the last.

The researcher said they disclosed the flaw to the CyberPanel developers on October 23, 2024, and a fix for the authentication issue was submitted later that evening on GitHub.

After publication of this story, CyberPanel creator Usman Nasir told BleepingComputer that version 2.3.8 was released and the bug fixed within thirty minutes of receiving the security disclosure.

It seems to me they did as much as they could after being made aware of the issue.

It is less this specific exploit, or that they had an exploit, but more the history of issues with CyberPanel, many of which stem from similar issues and not something I would risk my own sites on, or sites for friends and family (where I am generally laxer with updates as they're not as big a target).

With FTP/crontab access, right? 😛
Why would you need that? No one really needs that.

Developer mode is available in XF Cloud?
Nope but rarely needed. It is a production platform after all. My guess is they develop things locally and test them there first.

We have our test/dev site on that.
Hear me out. Imagine if you’d had your production site on XF Cloud and your test/dev site on CyberPanel… 🤔
