I have upgraded xenforo to 1.5.16 and xfes to 1.1.8, and also did a clean install of Elasticsearch 6 (previous was v5.6.x) in that order.
I see new option in ACP for elastic search:
Enable single type mode in Elasticsearch

It is recommanded to enable that option if we done new install of xfes on elasticsearch 6.
So, this was no clean install of xfes, but upgrading, just elasticsearch it self was new (clean) installation.

Should I enable that option or no?

If you create / optimize the index, it will be set for you automatically as needed. It will be needed for any indexes created in Elasticsearch 6.
