Is there a possibility (built in or via addon) to bring OT postings out of sight within a thread w/o moving them to another thread or deleting them? The idea would be, that an admin or mod could hide / mask them / fade them out, but users could still see that there is a posting and klick on it to see it - very much like currently soft-deleting of posts works for mods and admins. Potentially with a note on it like "this post adds nothing to the thread topic and has therefore been hidden. To see it klick here."
Reason for the question: In my forum we barely ever delete posts and that's part of the concept/culture. But we stick stringently close to the topic in threads, also a part of the forum concept/culture. As a consequence there is sometimes a relatively high amount of mod work needed for sorting/moving posts oder splitting threads, but that's ok. But sometimes, in rare occasions, there are posts that disturb the topic discussion but are not worth moving to another thread or it would make no sense to do so and often enough it is not a single post but a small side discussion containing a couple of posts in a row. Still they should not be deleted, some of them are interesting, but not for the thread (while others may be harmful or even insulting, so clearly negative, but shall not be deleted for reasons of transparency). So hiding with optional visibility would be a good way to deal with them.
