I should add that, for us, the showcase add-on is a resounding success. Folks love it, for it gives us the opportunity to present small collections of work by poets. We link to it from the home page, and we've used it to house some big-name draws, such as exclusive interviews with Bukowski.

Any of the XF 1.4 stuff like Sitemap integration and inline moderation in search results. One of the biggest new bits of functionality is being able to search for items by custom fields. A full list can be seen here: http://addons.nfljunkies.com/threads/showcase-demo-info.153/page-2#post-5538

At this point, there are so many moving parts that I have to weigh upgrades carefully--and I have to muster the energy to do them. The energy involves backing everything up before I make the upgrade. It all takes time.

As to sitemap integration, that's great, but I've been using the sitemap add-on here for quite some time, and all of the showcase items seem to be very well indexed. Type "mark preier" into google, for example, and our showcase piece on his photography is item #3. Can't get much better than that.

Hi Bob,

1. Can I have different custom fields for each different categories?

2. Do you have plan to offer custom star rating for different categories. I plan to create a review site for different items and each item type have it's own interesting criteria. For example, for hotels people would rate for location, friendly staffs, comfortable of the room, but for mobile phone people would rate for the cpu, camera, screen, etc.

Yes, each custom field can be associated with a single category or multiple categories.

Yes, Multi Ratings are being worked on right now. They are a key piece of functionality in the SC 2.3.0 series.

Wow, if so, this add-on would be perfect for me. But if I buy it now, I got only 1 year free upgrade, right? When will you release that 2.3.0 and what about the charge for further upgrade after 1 year.

RTL = Yes.

Showcase makes use of BX Slider for a couple things (Modular Layout, Node Items List and some [bd] Widget Framework Renderers for making widgets). The Node Items list can be set to only display items that have been featured. This block can be displayed above or below the Forum Home node list.

if you are looking for a THREAD related addon that has Slider functionality and promoting "threads", then you need to look at @Brogan 's Featured Threads addon.

Thanks for the info. So basically this addon is not supporting featured images/attachments on posts to show on slider on homepage?

and Brogan's addon doesn't support RTL languages. so not a lot of options here.

your addon looks nice and work for me I guess, as long as I can showcase items on forums homepage and link back to the thread, people can click on the image and go to the thread. that work for me.

can I also use bigger images on the relevant showcase page?

I really like the XMG integration. I would love to use Showcase to link related content. Similar how related images are shown with the XMG integration.
Is there any chance of adding integration for addons like:
  • Resource Manager (to show related files)
  • Vaultwiki (to show a wiki article)
  • Xentags (related content)
  • Better Blogs (show related blogs)
Is it possible or will it be possible to load a forum node under a tab? It would be really useful if there is a discussion forum related to an item.

Is it possible to make an item editable by all users in a usergroup?

Already have integration plans for the RM. No plans for Vaultwiki (you can request it). No plans for XenTags as I've already added a tags system to showcase. When Core XF (hopefully) adds a tags system that can be extended by Addons, I will be more than happy to integrate with that.

No. Its either the Item Owner (depending on permissions) or if the viewing user has showcase moderator permissions that allow editing of all items. IIRC, there is thread in the suggestions asking for this (or at least something similar like multi item ownership). Again, feel free to bump it or start a new thread :)
 
I'm debating using this or an implementation of WordPress for things like book and movie reviews... Can someone link me to examples of things they've done with this?
