Server error, please try again later

Hi all,

For some unexplainable reason I got logged out of my forum and when I try logging back in I get the message "server error, please try again later."

The page is frozen at that error page and no matter what tabs I click, I can't move away from the error page.

Does anyone have an idea of what this could be related to (my other domains, that share the same server, are up and running fine)?

I had "how many wings does an angel have" until one person got so offended that I didn't make '8' and option since Metatron has 8 wings, not 2. What the crap? The stupidity of people is mind boggling. Okay, I set it to "what color are most people's teeth?" Let's see how many angry responses I get from this...

Maybe I should just go religious or political, that ought to keep 'em out. :p

I downloaded this and did a full scan and there was one potential threat called Trojan:HTML/Phishbank.AF

Other than that everything looks good and it's now set to do real time protection. Thank you!
It's Chris you need to thank, not me :)
I don't use this program but I've been using using Kaspersky Internet Suite for more than 6 years now and I'm happy with it.

Now that your local system is safe, that your website is using the Chris Registration Form Timer addon & XenForo Q/A protection system, take time to learn how to make your own backup. And again, I recommend you this connexion method to your ftp website (if your host supports it - ask him, it will avoid to waste your time).

nah, I don't open the doors to strangers...

I must say - I am so happy to have chosen Xenforo as my forum software. I took 9 full months to download and buy or try every membership tool on the market. I aged 100 years during those 9 months. I disliked every one of them except XF. What made me take the plunge for sure was the nasty battle going on - without a question I wanted to support the good guys. And what lay beneath all of this greatness is the support of the community, which is what makes XF like the cream at the top.

Thank you again!

Update: I just received an email (supposedly from my cpanel) giving me a log for the month of December so far. The email is longer and I can post the entire message if anyone is interested, but it looks similar to this:

Below are the recently upload scripts that contain code to send email. You may wish to inspect them to ensure they are not sending out SPAM.

/home/corefree/public_html/library/Zend/Mail/Protocol/Smtp.php:249: */
/home/corefree/public_html/library/Zend/Mail/Protocol/Smtp.php:250: public function mail($from)

So from what it looks like someone (or a computer) hacked in my computer and is sending email as the forum? If that is right, how can I check if that is still going on and how can I stop the script?

haha, that's cute Digital Doc. At first I wasn't gonna click on that link, thinking it'll get me to some video I shouldn't see. lol

Seriously though, doing all of this alone is an impossible task, I won't deny having shed a few tears in this process and wanting to throw in the towels. What keeps me going is knowing that with all of you, the XF community, it is possible. Thank you. :notworthy:

Update: Somehow whatever computer bot they're using has hacked into my personal account once again. Urgh. It's not as bad as before but today alone 6 different IP addresses show up under my personal member account. Again they're from Poland and other Eastern European countries, China too. Chris' add-on has caught over 620 bot attempts from members in the last 3 days, so his add-on is a must have.

How can I keep this ******* computer out of my account? How in the world does their IP address show up in my personal account when there isn't even an account set up for them and there are no postings from them?

By the way, I did let members sign up without manual approval yesterday and a few slipped through the cracks. What they posted to the forum is absolutely gibberish, just a bunch of thrown together letters, just a line or two, no links, and no particular language. Clearly a computer program.

Any suggestions?

Yes, I get that. But what I don't get is how I can have dozens of different IPs from all over the world show up in my personal XF member account. I'm stationary and log in 2-3 times a day at most, but I have literally dozens of different IPs show up under my personal IP tab. Here is a screenshot I just took. None of these IP addresses belong to me. How do they get there?

They are actually logging into your account.
