It's the time again when all my contracts are up and I re-evolute everything & seek possible alternatives. Below are the current (and some past) host in which I have used (and deem acceptable).

^ So can anyone recommend any good alternative VPS providers?

I define Good as a provider who is fast, secure, stable, accepts adult content, and their VPS plan doesn't equal the same price as a low end dedicated server.

Requirements are:

5 GB disk space
2 GB ram
Debian or Ubuntu
DirectAdmin is optional

Not sure you will find any reputable hosting company in Malaysia that allows adult content.

Never heard of any of the above, except chicagovps.net has a bad rep, just search for them on http://www.lowendtalk.com/ forums

check webhostingtalk.com for VPS offers

if you look for unmanaged VPS then check out the following via google search for

site:www.lowendtalk.com/ top provider 2012

they hold quarterly end user polls to determine best VPS (low end mainly unmanaged) for each quarter

only tried ramnode.com and buyvm.net to date but hostigation.com has a good rep too

interesting lists. I can advice SimplexWebs, nice hosting and performance, with Litespeed + SSD. Medialayer it top notch, eAccellerator + Percona MySQL + LiteSpeed (DC in USA and EU).

Not 100% sure the credibility of all those host listed on it. But there are some good gems that seem to "check out" (such as your list).

Will be inquiring and may add one or two of those on my exploring list.

I've been told by their pre-sales though that they don't exactly "want" adult content (although last I checked their TOS supports it). That kind of gives a mix message. Have you hosting any such content and has there been any issues?

If a cloud service is what you're looking for, I, too, would recommend Digital Ocean. I emailed them recently about someone using their service to do nefarious things and their actions were very timely. It was rather refreshing to see, considering some cloud service providers don't care what happens on their network as long as they get paid.
